I am 53 years old and I have been widowed for five years. For most of my adult life I have concentrated on the health and well-being of my family, paying little attention to my own health/weight. Now that my youngest child is a young adult, I am learning to shift gears and I am taking care of myself and listening to what my mind, body and spirit need to thrive, not just to survive. I need to lose 90 lbs, but that is not the only thing I am focusing on. I am also implementing activities and therapies into my life for my emotional and spiritual health. I believe in the holistic approach because it is all connected to being the best person I can be. I enjoy walking, being in nature and re-purposing old items. I am slowly making better food choices and I am being more mindful of good foods that fuel my body for healing and good health.
