I gained a pound this week. Never what I intended however I had two blow out days as far as calories went and then had to fight hard to get it to just a pound gain.

Today we are celebrating Canadian Thanksgiving one week later. Just didn't fit people's schedules to do it last week. I expect my calories will be high today. I will do my best however it is a big meal that I have worked hard at preparing. Ii plan to eat all of it, enjoy it but be cognizant of portion sizes. The pie aspect will be hard as I do make good pies and this year by request there is apple, pumpkin and pecan. I will want to taste a little of each. My main stategy is to get most of the leftovers sent home with the family and then freeze little mini meals for myself so that it isn't just sitting in my fridge. Fortunately people are more than willing to take pie home!

This week was all about prepping for Thanksgiving, having the last few days with my granddaughter staying with me and doing some prep work for some of the organizations that I volunteer for.

Success! I lost 3.4 pounds this week. Again, it is no surprise. I ate within my calorie window and viola the weight came off. I bit faster but that is due to the quick gains in the last weeks. I am 59% of the way back to where I was at the beginning of September. Another 2.4 pounds down will bring me back to 'ground zero' and then I can work on losing some again.

This is Canadian Thanksgiving weekend however my family members had a number of commitments so we will be celebrating next Sunday. I bought the Hutterite turkey yesterday as well as a pumpkin to cook for making puree for the pies. Thanksgiving will be at my house again.

I dealt with a renter issue this past week. I am hopeful that a solution has been found and that things will settle in again. I walked in the Sisters in the Spirit walk this past week and attended a premiere of a movie that was locally produced. I loved it! if you get the opportunity to see Guitar Lessons starring Corb Lund, you will learn about northern Alberta. It was fairly authentic. I also went to another yoga class. All in all, a good week!

Yet another gain. I gained 1.4 pounds this week. The rotten part is that I have gained weight every week this month. I have gained 5.8 pounds over September. The worst part is that if I maintain this weight, I will have wiped out all the work I did in 2021! I would like to make substantial inroads in the next three months so I can salvage some of this year as far as not gaining too many pounds.

This week what I did right...I was not eating all over the map of major highs or lows. I had one very high calorie day and one very low-calorie day and then two somewhat high days and three days in the zone. Generally, I would have expected a modest loss with that pattern. But it didn't happen that way.

The plan- more days in the zone and no very high days. Sweets continue to be a difficulty for me. I note that I had 3 squares on one day and two gourmet cookies on another. I need to make that one each time. It is the multiple servings that are causing the biggest problem. I am also exploring crackers again. That is also a slippery slope. Will eye that up this week as well.

This past week was a pleasant one. Last Saturday I had the family over for supper. I really enjoyed that. I made a Beef curry with brown rice and had a cucumber salad. For dessert it was homemade apple sauce (with scant sugar!) and ice cream. Did prep for and ran a meeting for one volunteer organization, went to a Board-staff lunch (I was awesome I managed to leave half my Quesadilla on my plate!), went to a local yoga class, and got caught up with various bookkeeping for a number of companies.

This is looking particularly 'bad'. A 3-pound gain. However, it was a bit more of a creep than that! My own records are showing a steady gain over the last three weeks - 1.4, 2.8 and 0.2. Yes, that adds up to 4.4 pounds gained and so the 3 pounds this is logging in is a 'correction'. I have been gone a few Saturdays in a row so I haven't logged into this program...

This particular week I have eaten over my calorie window by an average of 100 calories and the two weeks before I was on average above my window 160 and 150 calories. Point is there is no surprise where this weight gain has come from. Basically, I will go back to eating within my window and I will lose the weight.

The extra calories came from two sources - one I was gone from home and eating out most of my meals and in 'holiday' mode. The second source was the little child within that was saying (and getting its way!!) "I want what I want and I am going to have it!!"

The first source is easy enough to deal with - I am home now until early November so lots of time to eat normally. The second one is harder to deal with! I am going to have to do a great deal of self-talk and soothing to the child within. It isn't like I won't eat some high calorie choices along the way, I will, however not over and over again and not on the same day! I have had to soothe this 'child' before and I will again!

The rest of my life! I had a lovely 4 days with my granddaughter in the city as I attended to some city appointments. I took her to her first actual bra fitting (she is 17) and purchased her a couple of nice fitting bras. We also shopped and did some enjoyable missions. She is vegetarian so we were eating at some interesting places. Vegetarian does NOT mean low calorie!!

I got a Brown Recluse Spider bite. That was crazy. I had never heard of such a spider before. Turns out we have two venomous spiders in Canada and this is one of them. Black Widow is the other. Both are relatively rare. Turns out there have been a few bites like mine in the area. One fellow ended up partially paralyzed and some brain damage and has been unable to return to work. My bite was on my ass so a long way away from my brain or spinal column. Lucky me!

Today I am having my family over for supper. I have a simple menu planned and look forward to enjoying their company. 8 of us for supper.

I am logging a well deserved gain today. 1.4 pounds up. I had three totally blow out days and two 'high' days and only the last two days have I eaten within my range. Definitely not going in the direction I would like to be. The only way that I will lose is if I put in the work!

Truly this gain was totally my fault. I decided to make a Queen Elizabeth cake for a board meeting as a treat. I made too much. I should have halved the amount. There was way too much cake available to me and quite frankly it was delicious and I ate too much of it! I do know that baked goods is a weakness of mine so making it was playing with fire. There is no more cake for the past two days (note those are the days I ate reasonably...!) and I will refrain from baking in the near future!

This past week I got my house 'parged' along the foundation and now it is totally finished on the outside. A fellow installed my natural gas barbeque yesterday. He has a couple of parts to pick up today and will finish it up this afternoon. The place is looking pretty skookum!

I have booked a two week trip to Mexico City this March. I have a friend who spends a lot of time there and will act as my tour guide. Exciting!

This coming week I am going to the big city with my granddaughter. I have a medical apointment and the two of us will be getting fitted for bras. We will be up to other things as well! I may have to just hope to hold the line this week as eating out is hard on the food planning piece.
