nbuckton's Journal, 12 January 2008

Made it through day 5 and stayed away from the salted nuts, I also drank 12 glasses of water to try and flush out all that salt from the nuts that I had during the week. no more salted nuts!
I also stayed away from the scale this morning and will continue to do so until Monday morning.

I really hope that today is another good day. Yesturday was good except that in the morning I was was sooooooo hungry! I'm really hoping that won't happen again cause it makes it hard to stick to a plan. and if I'm hungry like that I'll eat more food but I feel guilty, even though its P1 friendly, hoping I can get past that.

Does anyone have any advice? I would like to eat until I am satisfied without the guilt. I know that I was hungry and not just thirsty.

My turn to help you.....Do you have the book? If not go to www.southbeach-diet-plan.com, and scroll to site that offers shopping list, etc......... For one thing, the ricotta snack after dinner, although seems high caloric, etc., really helps to cut down on cravings. 1/2 cup Ric. Low fat, that is, mixed with sugar substitute and vanilla, cinnamon, really helps.....If you eat more chicken or fish as protein you can eat larger amount than 2 oz. at a time and that will help fill you up. Don't be afraid to snack on nuts or peanut butter as those fats are filling and supposedly helpful to the diet. Also I drink a lot of flavored tea and I find that filling. You need not go hungry.....eat SOMETHING unlimited .... veggies, salad.....Good luck.

its so cool that we can pin point stuff to help out in other peoples diets, thank you so much! Yes I do have the book and I was just thinking that I may have to start eating more vegtables. I have been eating too much of those cheese strings cause they're easy but I also know that they are high in salt so that will have to stop! I'll have to try the ricotta dessert that you suggested, I tried it with cocoa the last time I did SB and didn't like it but without cocoa sounds better. Yesturday at lunch I ate a large salad and had some beans with it and it actually made me satisfied and I wsn't hungy until lik 4, maybe I'll have to try that again. Thanks for your help, its great to have others to get advice from.

In the restaurant business (my family owned all in my growing up years) my Grandpa always said, "spare no expense at putting out free salty treats, chips, pretzels and nuts.... it keeps them ordering more drinks and ordering more food!" I would also suggest looking at your food journal, more good protein. Do you like tuna or salmon? I'll even get those frozen single servings (near the meat deli, not flavored, just the fish) so they are handy and I can cook them up quickly. My doc said since I love zucchini and cabbage and celery, eat as much as I want. My plate often looks like a veggie serving for a party of people. lol Oh, and 8 glasses of water a day, I have gotten off track here with water being so busy and I should know better. Ive always ben a big water drinker. Youre doing so awesome here. Asking all these questions and getting input from everyone is a great sign that you are committed to this and youre going to make it happen! Keep up the great work, your efforts will pay off!

Thanks! I do like Tuna so maybe I'll try more of that at lunch time. I also like the SB roasted veggies without one of the vegtable they say to put in it. I'll have to go shopping to get some veg to make that! I'm back with the water drinking. at Christmas I got way off track though but now its all good! for the past five yrs I have been a water drinker and haven't looked back! Thanks so much for all of the feedback, totally helps to get anothers point of view.
