Stuffed peppers have long been a family tradition can you please share what makes these Turkish stuffed peppers? Are they spiced different stuffed with different things I love to learn to cook things differently just add a little bit of flair to my family's life. I have a wide variety of spice mixes at home so for me it's a little more about preparation and knowing when to add what so that I can make the appropriate changes to my normal recipe to switch things up to make them more fun. I may never have the money to travel far but I can at least bring some of the more fun things to my family. Between that and the library and nature shows I feel that we can at least enjoy a lot of the fun things of the world that a lot of other families throughout history haven't been able to enjoy historically speaking. Also I had trouble differentiating what the red bit and the middle of the pepper was is it another pepper? Or tomato? I'm sorry I have very poor vision and I have a hard time differentiating different food types sometimes.

Think Reading rainbow if you've ever seen the old show I like to read to the children and then do a lot of craft projects and then we eat a lot of the foods from different cultures just to give them a little bit of taste of different areas of the world. Because my mom had a lot of friends from different areas of the world and I've been exposed of a lot of different cultures of the world I had a lot of fun growing up and I want my children to have the same experiences if I can help them to do so.

@leah_guffey - Sure! This is Turkish cuisine made with my mother who is 100% Turkish. The green peppers were grown in my garden by my stepdad who is the gardner. And they were mini green bell peppers though you can also use bigger ones or even yellow or red peppers. We rinsed them, pulled off their stems and emptied the seeds inside and rinsed the insides. We then got about 1 lb of ground beef, and mixed it in a bowl with a diced onion, 2 diced garlic shallots, red pepper, black pepper, salt, ground cumin, and thyme and 2 cups of jasmine rice that we rinsed before adding to the bowl and we ground them all together with our hands actually (of course clean hands after being washed with soup). We then stuffed the peppers with that mixture and closed the holes at the top with tomato wedges we cut from a large red tomato. We lined them all up in a pot, and filled it with water just above the peppers height and boiled it on medium-high around

We boiled it for around 20-30 min adjusting the temperature lower as needed, until the rice was cooked. You can also do this recipe by omitting the beef too, if you prefer. We then added more salt for seasoning after and a dollap of plain whole milk yogurt for added flavor. And tada! Turkish stuffed peppers which we call Viber dolmasi

Oh and I forgot we added a little bit of canola oil to the meat, rice, spice mixture (I prefer olive oil, but we’re out) and added a little bit of butter to the pot when boiling. But you can remove those or add the ones of your choice instead.
