angel423's Journal, 26 April 2010

Still craving carbs, my birthday was the 23rd, everyone around kept saying one day won't hurt, start fresh again tomorrow. I would have loved a big piece of chocolate cake or hot fudge Sunday. It was hard to get through the first week, I didn't want to start over so I settled for 1/2 cup sugar free jello w/2tbs whipped cream. 5 lbs down and 70 to go. I am struggling to day but will get through this.

I don't like how when you enter your food diary, it takes total carbs instead of your net carbs. When counting carbs and not just calories it is not accurate.

I did the atkins at one time and it is an extremely hard diet to stick to with so many temptations out there. I always stayed on the induction phase im sure you are aware of what that means. In the end all of the temptations and struggles were worth it although I have to say I am still sick of Jello to this day! I lost 32 pounds in 2 months on it. Just stay strong you can do it!!! its a great short term diet,

There is a wide body of scientific nutritional data out there to show that putting your body in a state of ketosis and loading up your diet with saturated fat and protein (while depriving it of needed fiber, carbohydrates and vitamins) is harmful to your body and unsustainable for long term health. JanelleMarie commented that it's a "great short term diet", but doesn't that contradict the idea of eating a diet that you can sustain for the long term and lead you to a healthier lifestyle? If the goal getting weight off and keeping it off in a healthy way, then something "short term" isn't going to last when you get off of it. I'm sorry if I sound meddlesome, I just saw this post and felt compelled to say something.
