~ * Rainy days and Mondays always get me down * ~
it's an old Carpenter's song that blares in my brain everytime it rains!!
I know that we need the rain but holy crap...I don't need the pain that comes with it!! I understand the weather's effect on arthritus and migraines but my body literally swells when it rains....I am not a plant!!!
All you scientific minds out there - you all just shush! LoL

So after a bit of research, here's what I found...
When there’s a rainstorm, atmospheric pressure drops. O.K. O.K. yes I know about this barometric pressure drop from suffering with migraines, blah, blah, blah - continue....as soon as your body detects this change, it makes your soft tissues swell up even scar tissues may also expand and contract.....say wuuut???!!
Now add all of that soft tissue swelling to the lungs and COPD is affected causing laboured breathing and increased coughing, which can result in extreme fatigue.

So, here I was berating myself for over exerting my physical limitations when in fact this old body is highly attuned to the barometric pressure - I am a meteorologist - and - I am more accurate than the Weather Network!! LoL

Hope your aches & pains alleviate soon Nadja. Barometric pressure fluctuations wreak havoc on fibromyalgia also. Personally I find that humidity bothers me worse than dampness does, but some say the opposite, just our genetics I suppose. 🤷‍♀️

ThnQ Val_Lily! ♡ It's the weirdest thing to watch....I'll just be sitting here, minding my own business and I can literally watch my body start swelling!! I didn't connect my sudden difficulty in breathing and coughing to this swelling either until I read about it on a website about COPD! Thank goodness Xtra Stength Ibuprofen alleviates some of the pain and swelling for a few hours! Fibromyalgia sounds very similar to rheumatoid arthritis, which I was also diagnosed with. I'm still learning about this disease...scary to think that the body turns on itself and starts attacking the very joints that hold it together!! Neither one of these dieases have a cure and my heart goes out to you Val_Lily! You're still young and raising a family - it's a crazy, crazy life that we have!!!

Thanks for your kind words Nadja. I’m not as young as my profile pic (I need to update it one of these days) The body definitely is a mysterious thing. I’m glad you found something that helps to alleviate symptoms even if it’s for a short amount of time. Fibro affects muscles more than joints at least in my case. Symptoms aren’t the same for everyone however.
