Y'all come, we'll have a party! Marie, I agree about the po' boys, but there is so much more good food in New Orleans. You might want to consider branching out a little next time.

Looks so delicious. Have you tried Skinnytaste.com shrimp and grits? It is so delicious and lower in calories. I am from Louisiana too 😊 I can post the recipe as it's not on her website, it's in her cookbook.

Gib, the Brennan's are a New Orleans family (Commander's Palace, Mr. B's Bistro, Brennan's). But one branch of the family opened a Brennan's in Houston years ago, so we have a little taste of Heaven right here. 😋

Webber, I haven't tried it, sounds good. I lowered the calories in mine too, but I'd love to see what she does. I make mine Cajun style, so it probably isn't "traditional" shrimp and grits, I don't use a recipe.

I just plain love grits! I have a stash that is years old that I bought the last time I was in the States. I am the only one in my family that loves them. Guess it is an acquired taste!

Shir, we ate at Brennan’s once. So good! As was Antoine’s. The only place we were less impressed by was Emeril Lagasses place. Except for his Banana pudding dessert. Best I ever had! ( PS I miss your comments since I went private. Add me if you want). Have a wonderful day! 💕

Ah, thanks for the heads up, @Gib_GJ. If I happen to notice it anywhere, I'll have to try it in honor of Shirley!

Carol, I love grits too; the problem is, I love them with lots of butter, so I don't eat them very often.

Shirfleur - is there any other way to eat grits??? I put lots of butter and salt and pepper on mine. I can't imagine them any other way. Hence, I don't eat them often either! As a kid, my parents would invite people for breakfast. We would serve this ginormous meal - grits, bacon, sausage, ham, cheese omelets, fresh biscuits with white gravy and hash browns! Our Canadian friends were astonished by the sheer size of the meal as well as most had never encountered grits or biscuits and gravy!

Was down south vacationing a few weeks ago and had grits every chance I got…breakfast lunch dinner! Definitely contributed to my gain. Bought some to make at home but will have to wait til I’ve made goal.

Your shrimp and grits inspired me to make some yesterday! I'm sure mine were not as good as a Cajun makes😊
