Christina423's Journal, 31 August 2010

I cannot believe that I still have not lost. Nothing! I had a bit of an emotional break down today to my boyfriend. He says he sees a difference in my body, my legs and bottom. He says my body is replacing fat with muscle, he says I will probably start loosing in the next two weeks. After weighing myself today, it made me want to throw in the towel. I am working my ass out hard core, and nothing. Its so defeating! And it is not like I do not have a lot to loose, I mean if it was my last 10 pounds or 20, I could see that. But its not... I have a lot to loose. So what gives!?

I am thankful for how I feel working out. I like it. I am happy my boyfriend is encouraging me, but bleh. I need to see some movement on the scale. Just one frickin pound.

maybe you should start measuring yourself. your boyfriend is right, if you're building muscle you will be shrinking appearance wise, but not weight wise. weight isn't the final chapter in losing it and getting in shape. measure yourself every other week, and you will probably see results that way and it will reinforce your dedication and give you something solid to go by.

I 2nd the measuring! Me & the scale have been duking it out since Dec. Almost seems that the harder I workout, the harder my body holds on to what it's got (scale-wise). But once I started mearsuring I was able to see the difference I was making. Today was my weigh-in/measurement day (I only do it once a month). Things have been stressful & I haven't really been working out & eating more but still creating a deficeit. I went up .2lbs, but overall lost 4.25 inches. The measuring tape will be a far better indicator of all your efforts. Plus you have to remember the scale is not the end all of what you are doing. A healthy lifestyle has far more to it than what a machine tells you. It's very easy to become scale obsessed & people talk about it all the time. It's hard to break away from it. Once I let go of the scale & focused more on the choices I made as in eating healthy, exercising & my outlook on myself (and what I'm doing), it was far more rewarding than the scale. Yes we all want the scale to move, don't get me wrong. But it's not the only way to gauge your progress = )
