shirfleur 1's Journal, 04 December 2019

I started cleaning out my closet today. It's pretty easy, as nothing fits. I am keeping my floaty dresses that only touch at the shoulders; I'm just going to rattle around inside them for a while longer despite what some of you have said. HaHa!

I found a pretty purple suede shirt I never could wear because it was too small. Well, now it's too big, but I'm keeping it anyway; I plan to just wear it open, as a jacket. I haven't looked at my pants yet, I'm hoping to find one or two pairs I can wear. I've just about finished one side of the closet and will tackle the other side tomorrow. It's amazing how much clothes I still have, including some work clothes, though I retired almost ten years ago.

Thanks br_ e and jeanie. Tyler, I'm not sure what you mean by "food." Lena, it is amazing to find everything I have in my closet is too big. Thank goodness for the loose floaty dresses, because that's all I have to wear. I did find an old pair of black pants that fit pretty good, tried them on with a tank that's kind of big and that purple shirt I thought I'd keep and I looked like an orphan in hand-me-downs. So much for that idea. LOL!

Bella, I have several loose "lounge wear" type dresses I wear around the house that I'm fond of, and since I live alone there's no one here to impress. I don't wear pants very often, but I did have some skinny jeans that I wore with long shirts, but, of course, none of that fits any more. I really don't want to make anything new right now as I calculated that I'm currently changing size about every six or seven weeks. So, for now, I'll just make do. 😁

I never wear tight anything trying to impress someone. I admire people who wear their clothes well with style rather than looking like a busted can of biscuits trying to squeeze into a size too small just for the vanity off the number. That's what aging does to ya, doesn't it? Knowing what works and finding the best look.

My youngest grandson is very into fashion. He's ahead to go shopping with me to try to dress me better. This should be fun. But like you...I am not ready to replace a wardrobe. I still have a ways to go. I just need a nice random event outfit.

Donate the too-big stuff - get them out of your closet. Wear clothes that fit - it will help you maintain. I kept a list of my donations for a nice tax deduction.

BTW - I found Dillards plus-sized clothing a pretty good fit, if you pick the right styles (I got a mother-of-the-bride dress thought them).

Thanks gz and Lucky. Gz, that's exactly what I'm doing, donating the stuff I can't wear.

Bella I agree. There was a time in my life when I wore form-fitting clothes, but in those days, I had a form to show off. These days, there's nothing worth looking at, so I dress accordingly. Going shopping with your grandson sounds like so much fun! I can't wait to see what the two of you decide on.

My main "wardrobe" is sets of pajamas! I usually only leave the house once or twice a week, and I only put on "real" clothes when I'm going out. My jammies are my wardrobe, but I have nice ones and I like them.

Debbie, your "jammies" are like my " leisure wear" dresses, comfortable at home clothes.
