I guess it’s time to update the profile. Right now, I’m not an empty nester. My younger daughter is back at college, but my older daughter is home after spending 21 months in other countries (teaching one year, travelling 9 months on money she saved). With her home, there’s temptation in the cabinets that wouldn’t be there otherwise, but she makes wonderful vegetable curries, etc. She’s a vegetarian and it’s the food that I really prefer, although I often go for the easy. I think she still has the travel bug and is likely to get a teaching job in another county and repeat the cycle. We’ll see.
I’ve lost over 25 pounds with FS. I’ll have to work hard to lose the remaining 10, especially since I feel so much better already. It’s going to be hard not to gain weight, especially with my daughter at home. It’s odd to think of the days when I weighed in the 120s and thought I was fat. Such a warped self image. I gained weight after my daughters’ births, but weighed less than I do now. Things went downhill after my sister’s unexpected death in 2005 (and my momma’s death in 2008; her health suffered dramatically after my sister’s death).
As for work, I’m trying to change my workaholic ways and cut myself some slack - save some time and energy for myself. I think I’m doing a bit better with this.
In 2012, I decided that one thing I could have control of was my weight. So I started FS in September. Weighing less has improved my outlook, so I’ve just got to keep this going. Thanks so much to my FS buddies for your help and inspiration.
