performance: losing 0.2 lb a week

I'm 32 with 2 kids. A girl (2) and boy (7). I've stuggled with my weight my whole life. Although looking back at the junior high/highschool timeframe I was a lot thinner than I gave myself credit for. I got married young (19, almost 20) and graduated college at 21 without putting on too much weight maybe 10 lbs which put me at about 155. After that I'm not honestly sure what happened. I don't remember when I gained it or how I let it happen. All the sudden I was just heavier. Yo-yoed up and down through two pregnancies and a couple sports injuries and here I am at 180. Not my heaviest but definately not where I want to be or where it's healthy to be. It seems I get right around 175 and something happens to derail me. I break something or get pregnant and then all bets are off.

Well, that's my story. Hopefully this is the last ride on the weightloss rollercoaster. Hopefully this time is for keeps.

Measurments
I'm so glad I'm not the only one that struggles with the measurement thing. The two I seem to have the most issue with are the hips and the upper arms. Hips they say fulles part but does that mean like across my hip bones (full) or accross my butt (full). As for upper arms since I have the lovely flabby arm syndrome the bigges part of my arm is right at the very top but that is not across my bicep where most other sites say to take it...so do I measure the flab or the bicep. hard to believe but I actually do have both. Yea...I'm a freak.

Fatorexia: I'm not that fat...
I do the compare thing too. I don't really think it's about slamming someone else but trying to keep myself on point. I know it's horrible but I always assume others are thinking that way about me, too. I too seem to do the denial thing. I'm still not sure I see myself correctly. I look in the mirror at home and think I look pretty good or at least a lot better then I did. Then I'll see myself in a picture and go geez I still look awful. It's very frustrating. I'm hoping that when I get to my goal weight I'll be happy with what I see in both the mirror and the photographs.

51 of the Fastest Fat Burners - Or so they say!
This is an interesting thread. Personally running seems to be one of the only things that really work for me. I'm rather pear shaped and running has helped balance that a bit. Also I'm a life dieter and until I started running I never really had a lot of success with the weight loss. Even though my diet was great and I was drinking my water and working out. I didn't see real progress until I started running. When I messed up my knee a little over a year ago I thought it was all over. I managed to maintain but didn't really start losing again until I could start running again. I've lost almost 25lbs in the last 2.5 months and I just don't believe that it's muscle. I do weight train at least 1x a week, but it's minimal. Thanks for posting this king. Great info and great discussion!

Perspective - let me hear yours!!!!
I finally got my mile under 10 minutes a couple weeks ago. This is a double accomplishment because a little over a year ago I had acl replacement sugery and didn't even know if I could run again. I still have some pain but I'm doing it and getting stronger.

Second, before I blew my knee I had gotten down to the lowest weight that I had been at in a long time. Then I messed up my knee and gain most of it back. About the same time I reached my 10 minute mile goal I also dropped below that weight again. I'm no longer playing catch up I'm in new weight loss fitness territory!
