01 November 2022

I haven't been online for a few days. Just recording food on my FS phone app. Its been hectic getting the kitchen ready. Yesterday was a great 14 hour work day. I started at 6:30 AM by moving the water supply lines for the new sink from "through the floor" to "through the wall" and installing extra shut-off valves to them in the crawlspace. Then I disconnected the gas from the range and we moved it into the garage and disconnected the water line to the fridge and moved it to the alcove of the sunroom. The rest of the day (until 8:30 PM), my daughter and I mixed and spread thin-set mortar and installed the Schluter-Ditra uncoupling system to the floor. So now, we can start the tile installation. My daughter-in-law and daughter are going to be assisting with this project. I need to have all of the tile installed and grouted by the end of the week because I fly to Las Vegas next Monday for a week-long conference and the cabinets get installed the day after I get home. My calorie counts have been surprisingly good despite eating restaurant food every day during this construction project. Well, I hope y'all have a wonderful day.

Surprised to see this drop. I haven't done any specific exercising in over a week. However, I have been remodeling our kitchen. Apparently, I got enough of a workout swinging a sledge hammer, breaking up and hauling out solid wood cabinets, breaking out 4 levels of flooring, and hauling all of the detritus out of the house, into the truck and then unloading it at the dump. The new cabinets have been made and delivered (to the driveway). I hauled them into the house to "acclimate". They currently occupy the entire living room. Now, its time to patch drywall, paint, and lay new tile before the cabinets can be installed. The electrician is coming today to do the rough-in electrical for the under-cabinet lighting. Cabinets can probably go in before thanksgiving. Then it takes about 3 - 4 weeks to get the countertops cut and installed. So, with plumbing and electrical final installations, the kitchen may just be finished in time for us to leave for Texas for 4 months. We won't have a chance to enjoy it until late April. But, at least, it should be complete. Next year, its going to be changing out the flooring in the rest of the house (it's currently all white carpet). Finally, we plan to add on to the house to expand the two bathrooms. But that's probably a 2024 project. I hope you all have a wonderful remainder of the week, now that we're on the downhill side of Wednesday.
