For as long as I can remember I have always thought of myself as chubby/fat. When I look back at pictures of myself, I see that the only time I was ever really heavy was in college (around 172 pounds at 5'2"). After college I took up running and joined a runner's club at work. I lost my extra weight and got back down to my 135 pounds but was much leaner and fit into smaller sizes than I did in high school.

After I had my first child, I lost even more weight without trying much because of the breastfeeding and training for races, so after having my first child I was at my lightest (121 pounds).

Now, at 41 years old, married and with a second child (5 yr) it is so much more of a struggle for me to lose weight. My eating habits have gotten better with the help of THIS SITE! The exercise part is not hard for me becasue I LOVE running.

But,I'm hoping by using this site and the calorie counter app on my phone I can shed my extra weight and keep it OFF so I can get my running times back down.

up hill struggle
Hi Christine,
Try to first focus on what you eat and don't worry so much about the exercise. It's important but feeding yourself the right food is fuel to "fan the fat burning flame". I've always been an active person but that doesn't help me get the weight off, it only helps to maintain. The only way I lose weight is by closely managing what I eat. Now that I just turned 40 this month I have finally realized that it is a life long practice that I have to do in order to stay at a comfortable weight. I have 10 pounds to go and it isn't easy for me.

Is your diet calendar accurate? Seems very sporadic. If going by what you have, I'd say you don't even enough consistently. You are bouncing around all over the place. Plus, you need to eat healthy food. I see alot of pizza, chips, deserts, etc. Diet is not just about calories in/out - it is about what you eat.


Yes, my food intake is very sporadic. That is something that I have learned from using this FS website. Some times I just don't get hungry so I don't eat (I must have a very slow metabolism) but then the next day hunger will strike with a vengance and I will eat something convenient. This is all very good advice and I am going to change from my 3 meals a day to 6 small meals along with the quality of my food intake. Having the FS on phone has helped me be more aware and I'm down 4 pounds since June 1 but the slow results can be frustrating which I don't always handle very well. Thanks for the input!!! Smile

I started using FS as a way to analyze what I'm eating. I just must be eating the wrong things for my body to burn the fat away. What should I be eating??
