performance: losing 0.2 lb a week
I'm a 54 year old woman who has been battling my weight for a good portion of my life. Did Weight Watchers after the birth of my first child and lost 40 pounds, returned after my second with less success. I've since tried many others, always losing some and then gaining more back. I successfully lost 23 pounds following Atkins in 2011 and then foolishly went off plan and indulged in a carb orgy for a year and a half, resulting in gaining all the weight back, plus an extra few pounds. Very embarrassing. I tried a low-glycemic type diet at the beginning of 2013, with no luck at all. I'd lose a couple of pounds, only to turn around and put them back on. This happened continuously from January to mid-March, when I finally accepted the fact that this type of diet just isn't going to work for me. I'm in the process of re-reading NAFANY and recommitting myself to the Atkins WOE.
I have been greatly blessed with a wonderful husband, we've been married for almost 31 years and have two amazing kids who are now adults. Our daughter is 24 and is working full time and our son is 21 and graduated college last March. He is also working full-time and is planning to return to University this fall. We happily share our life and hearts with a little 10-year-old bundle of canine love named Riley, who is a purebred Havanese.
