gilliansings's Journal, 02 March 2014

Had a nice relaxing morning, followed by a nice afternoon with my daughter and grandsons. For the first time ever, the boys took turns having their naps, so I got to spend quality time with each of them.

I purchased some new workout wear and a yoga dvd. After having a snack, I did two of the three parts (energizing and core workouts). 40 minutes altogether. I was pleasantly surprised that my 3 weeks of doing a hybrid strength training dvd (that was a cross between ballet, yoga and weights/bands) had somewhat prepared me to do this.

I was able to do 50 percent of it fairly easily, but the other half...let's just say that I found myself thinking, "How can I do that?" a number of times. I know that it takes repetition, with endurance and flexibility allowing one to do the poses and transitions more smoothly.

I did feel very calm as I ended each segment in the same position, saying "Namaste" along with the lovely instructor. She had such a soothing voice and I so admired her sleek, strong body. The scenery was also very calming and beautiful.

I still plan to alternate this with my strength training dvd, but I could see how yoga works out every single part of you! No doubt I will be feeling it tomorrow!

Oscar night with the family on the books for tomorrow. We get together every year. Thankfully, my daughter is trying 10-days gluten free, so she was very supportive of keeping the meal simple and healthy.

Dessert will be sundaes and I will keep the portion small, but do plan to have 2 Tbls. of homemade hot fudge, along with a Tbl. of pecans. Have a great Sunday everyone! Cross your fingers for me that my walk does not get rained out tomorrow!

I think you are on to something! Amazing how we have pain in muscles we didn't know existed :) You have my admiration for trying new things. As for your daughter's experiment, when my Sister went gluten free she lost 17 pounds in two weeks. Hope DD has good results as well.

It is POURING outside as I write this, but I will walk anyway. I think I'll go to the high school track again, because the surface is better on my feet and I don't have to worry about stumbling (which happens a lot with unsteady surfaces and the normal pebbles, etc. that you find on the ground). My back issues make my left foot and leg not cooperate as well as my right. I'd probably go to the h.s. track during the week too if it weren't track season, lol. BuffyBear, my daughter does not need to lose any weight, despite being a mommy to a 2-1/2 year old and a 5-month old. She is doing it because she's had years and years of tummy discomfort and also her baby spits up WAY more than is usual. I told her it's good that she has both reasons to do it, because it's possible that quitting gluten won't solve BOTH, lol. There are so many things that can contribute to both conditions. Rockytu, I totally plan to enjoy our sundaes!

It's SO below zero here, I'm cold to the bone. So sick of this long cold winter here in Minnesota. Anyway, hope it doesn't rain tomorrow.. Although, if it were warm enough here for it to rain, I think i'd be dancing in it LOL!!!! Also, good job on all your activity. You are doing great.
