Murf(@mightymurse) is gone and I am bummed out about it. He was my battle brother in this journey from day one. Let’s wish him all the best.
On an upbeat note - it’s Fritz Jr’s birthday. We had a mini cookout, grilled corn with chilli butter was sublime 🌽

Happy Labor Day, fellow water lovers. I canoed and Cindylynn kayaked👯♀️ Her hat was gorgeous, mine was a bubba hat from a dingy gas station. In any case, the day was filled with serendipitous moments. If you were near a body of water today, you were on my canoe too. Thank you for keeping me company.

I am hopelessly in love with pelicans. I never forget the first time I saw the silent gliding of pelicans over the water. The fleet was almost touching the waves. Those hurricane birds flew so close to my floating body that I saw their eyes. The angularity of their body aroused intense emotions in me.
I took hundreds of pelican pictures this summer but none satisfied me. The dissatisfaction compelled me to return to NC. Today was my last day in the Outer Banks, I walked on the beach, the bridges, the boardwalk, even drove to the neighboring town at dawn and at sunset, and I finally captured the image that reminded me of the morning when pelicans and I were gliding side by side, the image that reclaimed the moment when I was swimming and flying at the same time.

Are you excited about @SherryeB’s newfound love for the gym? I read her journal with envy, she is fulfilled! I said to myself “I want that.” So off I went. Hello tepid pool, I’m back! I had a grand time there this morning. The ocean swimming I did last 3 months paid off, the pool water felt light and it was easy to swim. I even received a compliment (“you look fit!”). That was the very first time anyone ever complimented me at the gym. At the gym!🎉
Overall it was a good day. Now please excuse my platitude, I want to say something. Occasionally I see people apologizing for posting stuff “unrelated” to fitness. Why? Don’t apologize! I love learning unique little things about individuals who support me, the more I know about them, the better, because that’s when their support becomes something palpable, personal, and priceless (alliteration👍🏼). That’s the kind of relationship I and SherryeB built (yes Sherrye we did); this bond allows me to rejoice in her gym love and to let her excitement permeate my otherwise drab day. So post away folks please, you never know whose life you’re touching. Share your joy, share your misery. I want to know more about you.
