Day 2 of taking "The Long Walk". I got up at 5am this morning so I could get an hour walk in before work. I used Runkeeper.com to track my 3 mile journey. I always feel great after a morning walk. Blood flows to the brain. I feel more alert. It's weird that it takes so much effort to get me to do things I feel better doing. Is that the human condition? We avoid that which we know is good for us?
Maybe it's just me.
I'm going back to the juice. Exploring Vegan options has been fun, but has done nothing for my weight loss. It is very easy to maintain weight on a vegan diet. I think there is a lot of sugar used when you go to Vegan restaurants. I only ate half of my pepper steak curry. I gave the other half to a friend that night. It was tasty as hell.
Hopefully rolling in some sweat will make things head south again.

Another level broken.
I feel like I have control over a aspect of my life I've had no control over in a while. I was adrift in a sea of instant gratification. I was addicted to fast food.
I'll always return to that damn Sausage McGriddle as the symbol of my addiction. There are no Mcdonald's in the town I live in. I think the city has it in for them. We have all the other chains, but no MickeyD's and no Walmarts.
I would have to drive out of my way to score a McGriddle. I'd get up early just to make it before they stopped serving breakfast. The mix of salt and syrup plus the tang of the sausage made the perfect taste explosion in my mouth. Here are the stats for my perfect food:
McGriddle
420 Calories
200 Calories from Fat
22g Fat
44g Carbs
11g Protein
A single 141g sandwich represented 25% of my Recommended Daily Intake of 1700 Calories. Add another 50 calories to that because I would often order it with cheese for that extra salty kick.
This addiction was madness. The McGriddle is something that was cooked up in a lab to meet all the pleasure centers of the human brain. It is a masterpiece of diabolical purpose.
I salute the technician who brainstormed this product just as I salute those who use their powers for good. Like the tech who cooked up the Vegan Tofurky Italian Sausage.
Here are it's stats:
Tofurky
270 Calories
120 Calories from Fat
13g Fat
12g Carbs
29g Protien
This comes in at a more reasonable 16% RDI and the fat it contains isn't animal fat. Granted, if you add a wheat bun those numbers climb a bit, but it's far more filling than a McGriddle and just as tasty. I had just one of these for dinner on the 4th. That would have never worked with a Mcgriddle.
It's all about control. I'm getting mine back. It's awesome.

I just realized this weight limit I'm bouncing around is 20lbs lighter than when I started this diet. WooHoo! I started a few days before I remembered to use fatsecret as a tool. I was 301.6 lbs on June 6th.
Most excellent!
On to the next 20!

I took a little break for the holiday. Still the same weight. This is just like the 285 level I was stuck at. My body is fighting to keep what it has. This pause hasn't phased me. I've eaten no meat and experimented with vegan dishes that couldn't be considered dietary. Like PIZZA!
Whole Foods sells a vegan personal sized pizza I quite liked. It was pricey, so I wouldn't have it daily. The crust was rice based and crispy and it used daiya cheese. There was something about the cheese that got strange the more you ate it. It was almost a built in warning system to keep you from over eating it. After not having pizza in over a month, I might be over selling this stuff. To me, it tasted like pizza. It's a new treat I can add to the list of interesting eats that aren't too bad for me. I took a picture of it and found out they don't allow photos to be taken in the store. What's that all about?
I also found a lunch place I dig. The Chop Shop. It's a salad place where they let you pick the greens, pick 6 sides, and choose a dressing. They chop it all up and put it in a bowl. They also have a toasted wheat wrap so they can make a burrito out of it. I selected that option. My fixings were jalapeno, tomato, dried cranberries, apple, red onion and mushrooms added to a romaine and spinach mix of greens and balsamic vinaigrette. It was so Yumm! I wouldn't want to burn out on it so I'll be keeping it to treat status also.
$7 bones is a lot to pay for a salad. I can easily make my own. But it's great to have alternatives when time is short or I'm out with friends who want to eat. These are fun options to the juicing. I'm finding there's a lot more tasty options that that quarterpounder I used to settle for.

I weighed in on July 4th in the morning but never recorded it. There was no change in weight. Today I had a friend over for some grilled eats and movies. We watched Salvage-1 in honor of Andy Griffith's passing. It's the one where an LA Junkman played by Griffith gets the idea to build a spacecraft and go salvage the junk left by NASA on the moon. I kid you not.
We had veggie Italian sausage on whole wheat buns with tofu mozzarella and couscous with dried cherries and crushed almonds. Instant guilt-free cookout. I found 1 sausage was all I needed for dinner to feel full. I'd normally eat 3 times that much at a cookout.
