I went to a boot camp exercise class with a friend last night, and usually I am not one for group exercise, at least I haven't been in the recent past, but I remembered why I did like it, just being around other people made me more inclined to push myself harder and I did. It was a freakin' tough class! But I am so happy I went and I really want to go next week. I did this class because I am looking into taking on the instructor as a personal trainer. This is also the first time I have entertained the idea of a personal trainer. I haven't wanted to spend the money on it before, but I am so tired of doing the same things, and being afraid to try something new because I'm afraid I'll gain instead of just maintain. So I am doing a dual session with my friend this coming week and after that will decide if I want to continue. This trainer is a great deal for all of what she does and how personalized the program is, so I think it will be worth the money. It will end up being a lot of money though, at least a lot more than I'm used to spending on fitness.
took my measurements the other day:
Waist: 29.5"
Tummy (at belly button): 33.25"
Ribcage: 30.5"
Thigh: (at fattest part) 23.5"
Bicep: 11"
I forgot to measure my hips so, that will come soon.

Went to the gym this morning. I am going to try to do 2 morning workouts during the week, and my Saturday morning workout. 2-3 times a week I hope to do a normal 30-50 min cardio plus 20 min later in the day. Also trying to pay more close attention to all the stats of what I eat. Try to lower sodium and sugar intake. I want to switch to greek yogurt, but it's so expensive. I found some websites that tell you how to make your own from either homemade or store bought yogurts. Thought I'd give that a whirl. (the idea being some of the sugars come out when you drain off the whey--liquidy stuff that shows up in yogurt and I normally mix right back in, but if I drain it the yogurt will thicken and lose some of those nasty sugars)...I'll let you know how it goes....

Have had so many emotional ups and downs lately with work, grad school applications and the rest of life. It's been hard to really focus and I've been so drained I haven't been good at going to the gym. I feel like I've been good at keeping things from getting out of control, but not great at really buckling down and focusing on eating less, and not snacking! snacking is really my downfall....mostly when I get home from the gym and go to make dinner I am starving and really crave carby snacky foods...crackers...or worse sweets. I don't know if things will really settle down much. maybe gearing up for a big move...washington to california(i've never lived outside of Seattle for more than 6 mo.), if so it will be a complete life overhaul...new place, back to school, having to set up everything anew...which is kind of exciting but stressful! But next week I should know for sure whether this will happen or not...its hard not knowing right now....
ps. changing my goal weight to see if it gets me going again. I've been thinking about it a while, sort of having that in my head as my new goal, but I need something to change to get me focused again.
