Started with one "cheat" day per week (Sundays) and it's harder to control the side effects than I initially thought. Eating at restaurants with no nutrition information and approximating by volume rather than weight makes it all unpredictable, however it's what must be done in order to have a social life.
I think I'll get better as I go - but I'd rather eat in a normal restaurant than eat at a fast food joint where there is nutrition information - precise to the point you really know how bad it is.

Weird week, weight going up and down (and left and right) - got a small flu but managed to maintain least 30 min of exercise per day and kept tracking all my calories.
Feels like I've hit a plateau recently (maybe it's just the body still recovering from the flu) - I've also started using protein powder to help with training demands - let's see how it goes and changed my breakfast from Toast, PB & Hemp seeds to overnight oats in milk, Greek yogurt, and chia - so far so good.

losing 2.7 lb a week

I've been experimenting with a lot of food, tofu, seitan, nutritional yeast, chia seeds, and more recently I've reintroduced Greek yogurt, canned sardines, chicken breast, and eggs (I was trying to go vegan) - all to get to a level of protein so as not to lose muscle as I lose weight - coupled with better resistance training (transitioning from machines to the squat rack).
Those experiments led to a comfortable, but slower pace of weight loss - and I'm still trying to find a "stable" diet so to speak. I guess my biggest friend in this process is my kitchen scale which helps me to build my food journal, day after day, and have an idea of what's going on and what's helping.

This might be old news but since it's a TIL (Today I Learned) thing for me - apparently there isn't a linear relationship between calorie deficit and weight loss - it's rather a curve (which is defined by starting weight, age, sex, time, and calorie deficit) - https://www.pbrc.edu/research-and-faculty/calculators/weight-loss-predictor/
Even though it means that I'll probably need to step it up on the gym, at least this helps me to set realistic goals. Just sharing it here to help other people on their weight loss journey.
