I've set up the cupboard and fridge so I can get immersed in the Dr Atkins programme and should have no excuse starting my journey tomorrow. I can't believe its taken me 3 days to get to this point and plan my life out of eating and into dieting mode. To get the dinners over with, the get new baby in the family party done, and clear the diary just to be in a position to diet without embarrassing myself and others.
Strange, the first step of a journey is the most difficult but in other areas of my life I take first steps with the greatest of ease. But with dieting, taking the first step is always so difficult for me, and its delay that that makes the journey so long.
I've defined the first step as being on Atkins for 3 days straight. From tomorrow :)

I've been trying to see how I can best get the msg across to family and friends that they should not feed me. Maybe I should wear a sign "Do not feed the monkey" or something, cause they do not seem to be getting the msg, and I love them for it but really need them to understand that they should not offer me the great stuff they are eating until the end of October (my deadline to having lost considerable weight).

I've got a date at the end of October and need to look my very best, and I wonder if you could guess with whom :)
I'll tell you: Right now, he weight I am,when I look in the mirror I really just do not recognize the person I see. But then, this weekend I realize that somewhere behind that facade really is the real me, and its that person that I'd really really like to meet again.
That's who I have a date with end October: That slim person inside:) Since I made this date with my slim self I've felt a tremendous excitement, expectation, and enthusiasm to loose all the weight I have to loose so that the date I have with that person I was and could be, can eventuate.
I've tried to diet for years and years but have never REALLY thought of myself this way and feel that I've taken such a step forward. It's as if I could see the mountain before but could not see the road I had to take to get to the top. Now, I feel like I've found the road and all it needs is to take the steps. I joined fatsecret.com aver a month ago and its taken me that long to get there, and I think just maybe I may be able to make it work with a bit of help from others
I spent ages this weekend hunting down before and after pictures of successful dieters (they are quite hard to find!) and it is just stunning how successful dieters just even seem to be the same people at all. I really could use such a dramatic change in my life.
So... Anyone out there who wants to join me in the journey, the goal of which is to make a date with your slim self? If you do, I'd absolutely love it! I;ve set my date as end October 2007 and come hell or high water, I really want to meet that person I know I am.
I know I'll really really need your help and maybe you could do with a bit of encouragement from me so let me know :)

Just reading the progress of some of you is SO motivating.. I start to imagine that if I keep focused on staying on my diet, I too could be 20 pounds lighter in a month or two. So here goes!
I've been on Atkins before and find that I settle into a routine diet based on minimal menu changes (eg poached egg, tuna salad, steak and salad, raw veg as snacks and can go on like hat for a week or two. Is this odd, or do some of you do the same thing?
Also I was wondering - has anyone any idea of how big this community is, where is is, and so on? I'm in South Africa. Does it extend this far? Maybe someone out there can tell me :)
