I've been MIA. I was off my diuretic until August 31 (also the day my granddaughter was born) to see if my creatinine level would return to normal. Long story short, I have now added kidney damage to my list of ailments (from the colon prep medication I should not have been given). Anger with stress appears to be a big time migraine trigger for me so I've been having lots of them. They drive my carb addiction (a coke really does help--diet coke is not the same thing). Coupled with lack of sleep, and things have just been off.
But I can't control any of this. I can impact how I feel by staying on South Beach. It's better for my heart and will put off that surgery and losing weight is better for both my heart and kidney (I only have 1--donated my other to my brother in 2000). So I am trying to do better and hoping for a good result.
I see the nephrologist for the first time today. I'm very impressed by how fast I got in. Wish me luck.

The weight is stuck because of the medication change to allow the kidney to recover. Even with the water retention, my waist still went down. Georgia

My kidney appears to be rebounding. I'll probably get weekly tests for a while. Spread the word--osmoprep should not be taken by people taking most high blood pressure meds especially diuretics. It can cause kidney failure. I'm going to dodge that particular bullet but I still very upset that the doctor's office didn't check my meds before prescribing it to me--the FDA put the black box warning on last December after all. This would be the pills you get pre-colonoscopy as oppose to the nasty liquid. Wish I would have had the nasty liquid!
On a brigter note, a lot of the edema is gone and my weight is going down again. I'm also back into yoga--gentle yoga--to compliment the walking. I'm discovering muscles I forgot I had. But it's a good pain :-) Georgia
