I feel like my life right now is just work, gym, and homework. There’s just no time for much else on the weekdays. Keeping my workouts a priority has cut into free time significantly, but I’m ok with that. I just need to be less wasteful with my spare time. Trying to incorporate a run once a week. I have a couple 5k’s coming up in the spring and I’d like to get faster, but balancing that with cycling is going to be a challenge.
Have been on point with my nutrition though, so that’s good. Haven’t had any awful days. Visited my parents last weekend to spend a day ice fishing with my dad. I ate what they ate, but kept my portions reasonable, and stopped before I was stuffed. Getting better at keeping my cheat meals from getting out of hand. Also, my dad and I had an incredible day on the ice, and caught 20 huge lake Michigan whitefish, so I’ve got that as a healthy source of protein for the coming weeks!
This weekend will be a challenge. Taking a half day tomorrow and visiting my sister. Our Christmas gifts to each other was a ticket to a really cool burlesque show that we are going to on Thursday. Then, heading up north to my parents again on Friday with her to celebrate my birthday a weekend early, since there’s a winter festival going on on Saturday. There will be cake and booze. My goal is to enjoy it, but keep it sensible. A small slice of cake tastes just as awesome as a large slice of cake. My nutritionist also recommended a “refeed” day, which would be higher carbs, but to keep the fat low. Going to try to incorporate that theory into the weekend to minimize the damage, and help keep me on track.

Staying on track this week. Luckily my coworker was fine, wasn't a heart attack, but still not sure what it was. Scary stuff.
Have made it to the gym every day this week, which will hopefully make up for missing it tomorrow. Heading up north tonight to visit my parents and go on an ice fishing day-trip with my dad tomorrow. The goal is to show some restraint around food. I tend to indulge too often when I stray from routine.

Was about to write a journal entry saying how good this week has been going, when my coworker collapsed. Likely heart attack. Called the paramedics and stayed with her till they arrived. One of the paramedics that came was my Ex. I feel like my life is a bad soap opera. Luckily my coworker was doing much better by the time they arrived, so hopefully it was something else.
Honestly think I'm just gonna head home today. An afternoon on the bike sounds like the best stress relief.

Back to work :( Had my sister over this weekend and way overdid it. She brought this insane chocolate cake with earl-grey buttercream frosting. I hate that she's an excellent baker. But back on track today. Had to resist the urge to skip breakfast today. I don't do well with fasting, but am always tempted to after I indulge. Inevitably, it leads to me losing willpower, getting crazy hungry, and binging. Kudos to the people who can do it, but I will never be one of them.
Have decided that I'm selling by hybrid bike and building a touring bike. Gonna go talk to the bike shop guys this weekend to get their advice. Thinking of taking it across Kentucky on section 10 of the TransAmerica trail. It would be about 400 miles. Would take a week off of work to tackle it. Would be a fun adventure!

Feeling better today. Got a good workout in yesterday afternoon, and another good PT session before work today. I always feel much better when I start my day with strength training, and I find I do cardio/interval training better in the afternoons. Not gonna fight what works!
School has picked up again, so that's keeping me really busy. Two courses in addition to working full-time plus finding time to workout leaves me with little free time. Which is kinda good, since my free time usually leads to mindless snacking.
Also itching to get my tax return. The smart part of my brain is telling me to just throw it into savings. The fun part of my brain is telling me to buy another bike.... I have two currently. One is a Trek FX that works well for bopping around town, doing grocery shopping, and getting to work. The other is the the Trek Emonda ALR, which I love for longer day rides. It's super light and quick, and the handling is great. It's moderately comfortable, but it got pretty painful towards the end of my 500 mile week last summer. Plus, I can't load it up with much gear. A saddle bag is pretty much it.
Soooo, therefore I obviously need a touring bike! :D Something that's quicker than my FX, but more comfortable than the ALR, that I can load up with gear to go for a week-long trip by myself. I'd love to be able to pack a tent and everything and just take off for a week.
But, I'd need to find space to put it. And it wouldn't be cheap. Ugh. Being a responsible adult is hard.
