I'm a 47 year old ESRD patient with a new kidney (received 1/11/2018). As part of the rejection meds I'm on, the docs put me on a low dose of a steroid, Prednisone, which makes me very very hungry all the time. In the first 6 months after the transplant, I gained 65 pounds. I wasn't able to walk hardly and said, "Well... that's enough of that shit," and went on a diet. As far as my health goes, I'm doing really well.
I live in the middle of nowhere in flyover country. There's no restaurant near me, so I'm not tempted to go out very often, which is probably a good thing. I like spicy foods and right now I'm obsessed with Korean spicy as gochujang is crazy good. When I go to the city for doctor's appointments, I always stop by the local Asian grocery store and pick a few things up to cook with and then experiment.
I'd like to get down to 130 pounds, which I haven't seen since I was in 7th grade. I'm just calorie counting, and looking to lose 2 or so pounds a week, which is working for me so far. Wish me luck! And good luck to everyone else on their goals!
