I'm 31. I have been overweight for most my life. Sometimes I would lose weight by playing sports or dancing or joining a gym. When I had my daughter I was the biggest I have ever been. This year I decided to make a change. My husband was about to deploy and I made an appointment with my doctor to talk about diet and exercise. I was a little shocked when she asked if I had thought about bariatric surgery. I hadn't. I did a lot of research actually used it for a research paper in one of my courses. The research on weight loss surgery turned into a paper on Obesity Stigma and shifting the focus from weight to wellness. I am choosing to work with diet and exercise as I am seeing results and scared of the risks in surgery. I am making healthier choices daily. I am eating smaller portions and working out more. I am gaining muscle slowly, but surely.
