So, I am going to try the LCHF or modified New Adkins (but with some Paleo adaptations) diet to see if I can't loose some weight and get my blood pressure down a little. Is / has anyone had success with the New Adkins diet? I ordered the book from Amazon and should have it by Friday.
At my heaviest, I weighted 300 lbs. That was about the time my mother died in 2004. I started loosing weight right after her death and by 2006 I was down to 265 lbs. By December, 2009 I weighted 177 lbs. For me that is a size 10 (or Junior's 13) and very thin. It took me 3 years to get to that weight. I was exercising (cardio and weight training) everyday, eating very healthy (South Beach Diet and Body for Life). I did not work full time but had a part time job as a pre-school teacher (read - not sedentary!). At the time of my motorcycle accident in September 2010, I weighed about 200 lbs, was still physically active but had started a full time sedentary desk job. I was very comfortable in a size 12. As of this morning (November 5, 2014) I now weight 264 lbs. and wear a size 18. It has taken 4 years to get back up to this weight. I know part of this weight gain is that I can no longer do the exercises I could before the accident and that I have a very sedentary desk job. Walking is about the extent of my cardio ability and that is difficult. I can do some weight training but not like I could before. While I still eat a very healthy diet I have fallen back into some bad habits like eating more processed and carbohydrate high foods. I don't really care about being a certain size but I do want to be able to buy clothes in any store I choose to shop in. But mostly, I want to feel better and be healthy.
