I attended a women's retreat at One* Church last evening and had drank a serving of wine to relax before going to the event. I added a half "serving" of huckleberry syrup to my iced tea just to give it a little sweetness. (I heard 1 pump is a serving, and I saw women putting more than that in their teas, but they weren't as obese as me). I felt content spiritually and physically from the event and began to crave the crackers and cheese after the hosts welcomed the audience to eat more and mingle at the end. Then, I consumed more simple carbs (sugar) after coming home and purged, not wanting to gain back weight lost from the excess calories. The scale hasn't changed this morning, but I still feel guilty for the self-destructive behavior.

I think the wine and sugar in the syrup triggered my addict brain because I even argued in my head why I shouldn't consume more, and I gave into cravings anyway. This experience confirms why I need to continue to eliminate sugar, including alcohol, from my diet. I don't know if it's for life, so I'm going to resist it one day at a time.
