I do not "hope" to lose weight. It's not a random occurence or a luck of the draw. It's a choice.

I only glanced over the article but it seems pretty legit.

I have been dieting for 3 - 4 weeks and nothing!!!! What am I doing wrong??

Remember muscle weighs the same as fat but takes up less space so if you have lost a pound of fat but gained a pound of muscle the scale will not change but the way you look will change.
True, but it's highly unlikely that anybody trying to lose weight is also gaining any significant amount of muscle.
Normally I would recommend slight changes to fix somebody's weight loss stalls or whatever, but I'm very confused by your problem. If you really weigh 265 lbs, you shouldn't be having a lot of issues losing weight in the beginning. Really, just cutting back on some food and sneezing every once in a while should be enough to drop some pounds. So something else is off... maybe your scale hates you... that would certainly explain it.

protein diet
Quote:
1. Excess dietary fat is directly stored as fat
2. Excess dietary carbs increases carb oxidation, impairing fat oxidation; more of your daily fat intake is stored as fat
3. Excess dietary protein increases protein oxidation, impairing fat oxidation; more of your daily fat intake is stored as fat
Why didn't you just say "If you eat too much, you'll get fat"?

Cholesterol Diets
There are three varying schools of thought here:
1. Fat and cholesterol cause your cholesterol to go up and makes your heart explode.
2. Fat and cholesterol aren't bad for you and don't make your cholesterol go up and therefore aren't bad for your heart.
3. Same as number 2 but with the belief that cholesterol itself doesn't have any impact on heart disease no matter how high it is.
I lean more towards the second and third schools of thought because, based on the research that I've done, they make the most sense to me.
One thing you can do to increase your "good" cholesterol (HDL - which isn't actually cholesterol but rather the protein that transports the cholesterol from other areas in your body back to your liver. LDL does the opposite and carries cholesterol from your liver to... say... damaged cells that need some healing) is to exercise. Plenty of studies have shown that exercise and losing weight will increase HDL without increasing your overall cholesterol.
Honestly, losing weight is the best bet for most people who want to "better" their cholesterol, whatever that even means. If you aren't overweight and your cholesterol is still bad, however, it probably means you have awful genetics and your heart is going to fail very soon leading to an untimely and most likely horrific death.
Just kidding.
Exercise more, lose weight (however you desire). That's the best advice that I can give. I heard this quote somewhere and I really like it: "Eating fat doesn't kill people, being fat does".
Enjoy life. If that means eating bacon whenever you feel like it, I say go for it.
