I'm 24 years old and a college student. For many years I was a vegetarian. While I was not eating meat I didn't gain or lose weight, I maintained a fairly healthy weight. About a year and a half ago I started eating meat again, took on more classes than anyone should - therefore my physical activity was way down. I became very out of shape.

So, my goal, rather than just loosing a bit of weight, is to rework my relationship with food. I don't want to crave unhealthy things, I don't want to opt for fast food because it's quick. I need to get back into healthy eating habits.

wraps
I would say that it depends on what Phase you are in. Maybe in Phase II you could not eat rice or oatmeal and sub in a wrap, but in Phase I you shouldn't eat them at all. The point of this is to get your body off processed foods. That is why you have to detox and then slowly add foods back.

Your body needs time to adjust to the new before you should add back in the old. Personally I will not be eating foods that are made from grains until I am in a Phase where they are allowed.

Although I am tempted to not eat rice or oatmeal and have a slice of bread, I know that this would only hurt me and my efforts.

It's really up to you though.

Fat Free Sour Cream
Okay, so I was wondering what everyone thought about substituting a serving Fat Free Sour Cream for a serving of Fat Free Yogurt.

The sour cream as 5 more grams of carbohydrates and a bit less protein. However the sugar content is way lower.

I wouldn't be subbing it out everyday, but I really enjoy Mexican and Southwestern food and like a bit of sour cream with certain dishes.

I know the serving size is 3.5 oz of sour cream opposed to 6 oz of yogurt but I really only eat one serving in a smoothie each day anyhow.

Let me know what you think.

Spaghetti lovers, try this.
So, I completely forgot about this until I was at the grocery store today. In the past when I was watching my weight, I would often make spaghetti that would be friendly for Phase I or Phase II.

Instead of using noodles for the spaghetti, I prepare a spaghetti squash. For instructions check out this website.

While the squash is cooking, prepare your favorite sauce. I like to make mine homemade, be sure to include a lot of veggies. I enjoy zucchini, bell peppers, and onions in my sauce.

Phase II and beyond:
Sometimes it is fun to make mini-meatballs, I love to prepare these baked, it's so much easier than frying them, all you do is form them, put them on a pan, and bake them. Easy. You could even sprinkle on a little Parmesan Cheese or melt a bit of Mozzarella if you like.

couscous
Couscous is a pasta - you cannot have it until Phase III or Phase IV. But even still you should try to find Whole Wheat pastas, not regular white pasta.

I don't know the diet!! help me please
It's fairly simple.

Phase I - nothing but fruits, veggies, 1 Cup Cooked oatmeal, 2 Cups Cooked Brown Rice, 12 oz low-fat yogurt, 2 Cups low-fat or skim milk, 4 egg whites, and 2 cups herbal tea per day. You don't have to eat everything but you can't eat more than that. Remember, fruits, veggies, and legumes are unlimited and have little calories so eat a lot of those.

You also need to get at least a half hour of aerobic or cardio five days a week.

From there on, the Phases slowly increase the food intake and activity levels. The book is very inexpensive. $12.95 regular price and I know that it's 20% off right now at Barnes and Noble. If not you may be able to check your local library
