Nancy and Mummy, thanks for the tips....life style change is a must, I agree...you are both right on, but I am a professional dieter by age and reputation LOL....At 66 my metabolism is 1/4 of what it was in my younger year. My doctor is an expert on weight loss and teaches nutrition at UCD. Bottom line,WHITE carbs are the enemy as well as red meat and calories must be watched contrary to popular Atkins belief...Boy those Premier Protein drinks really work...30gm protein...down 2 pounds in 1 day... My Doctor jokingly says anything WHITE usually is high calorie, and he is right...pasta,bread,white veggies,spreads,sauces,snacks,cookies,puddings..

I have dieted all my life, and I am 66...My problem is carbs flat out...I am Greek and love pasta, but what would be a normal portion you ask, well, I eat 3 portions of anything.....anyone with me out there?....LOL...Bottom line is simple ...protein burns hot and carbs turn to fat..and 3500 calories make a pound no matter what the food is...I found that if I follow the Atkins theory I loose weight...but all the foods I dearly love are CARBS...poison to my hips....and frankly..dieting is tough and painful and boring...BUT when I am carrying around 40 extra pounds I feel like crap, but still stuff my face...and worse of all, I am a night snacker...OMG the worst you can do ladies and gentleman...guess I am the new kid on the block...Mahalo
