Good Morning FS Warriors! So saw the Doc this morning...she was dressed as a female pirate..LOL She looked great. So she tells me again, I am a healthy obese woman, she was tickled with my weight loss, told me I needed to add more protein, I told her I had. Some of my numbers went down, Glucose from 100 to 92, AIC from 5.5 to 5.4, Total cholesterol went up from 156 to 158, Triglycerides were up from 58 to 68, HDL cholesterol was up from 44 to 53 (yay), LDL was down from 100 to 92 (yay), VLDL was up from 12 to 13. My creatinine level dropped from 0.95 to 0.89, which Doc said was likely due to better water intake. As usual she stated that the rest of my bloodwork was on par with a younger and fitter person. She eyeballed Cronometer and said she needed to check it out, her advice after looking at my intake, more protein, more fiber and because I don't eat grains, I'm probably going to have to supplement, so if any of you guys supplement fiber, give me a few pointers. With the colostomy I try to avoid bulk and gas producing things so I am looking for the nearly impossible low bulk, low fumes fiber supplement that may be out there. She did say that I needed to aim for the 2000 to 2500 calorie range on my eating days and my current supplements for vitamins and minerals were some of the same ones she uses. Protein was an issue for her also and she had to turn to a supplement, with a busy practice and three kids to chase around she had reached an abysmal total of 40g per day and had not noticed. So, I'm not the only one apparently! She is sending me to an orthopedist for the hip and knee though, we have to find out how bad the damage is and what...if anything can be done for it besides surgery. The ugly hematoma on my shin seems to be resolving itself. I have not rescheduled my appointment with the vein specialist which had to be cancelled due to covid in August, she said wait till after we see about the hip and knee, so the first step is x-rays, then we can progress to MRI's. UGH...I hear my savings account being sucked dry!!!! So that is all that is going on here...I weighed in at 255 there (fully dressed with shoes), but it's day 2 of this weeks fast, so I won't weigh in till Thursday morning, I did compare my scale to hers when I got home, mine adds 1/2 a pound...it's close enough! Ya'll have a great day!

Wow, this week has really gone by fast!! It's Friday already! I have spent a considerable amount of time poking into nutrition trackers, the one I have decided to use in conjunction with FS is Cronometer. It has all of the nutrient trackers I was looking for, plus it lets me track my fasts, my weight, my blood pressure, my ketones, my blood sugar, all of my bloodwork panels, body measurements, specific nutrients can be targeted, has a keto calculator built in...it's pretty cool, not cheap but I can afford 54 bucks a year to keep up with all of that and I get a comprehensive look at my health markers compared to my nutrient intake. Still learning how to use it but I also like the fact that it is also available in both phone app and desktop mode. So far I have found a few places that I am deficient in nutrients, so I'm working on them! Ya'll have a happy Friday!

Good Morning FS Warriors! Happy Thursday! Fast ended this morning and I did well this week! Feeling pretty good, we have had some seriously beautiful weather, you can't get much better than that. We went to the schools annual fall festival and walked around drooling over the literally hundreds of fantastic looking cakes presented for the cake walk, they had a Pancake supper and while Hubby partook of the food, I did not. I had a good time, it's fun to hang out with my customers in a non-work setting! They marveled at how I was able to sit at a table covered in pancakes, syrup, butter and sausage and not eat a bite. The smells of cooking were all over but it was day 3 for me and there is no danger of me slipping on day 3. It's funny how most all of our celebrations revolve around food, earlier at work one of my customers came in and threw an envelope in the outgoing mail and announced that it was his final mortgage payment, everyone clapped and cheered, there were about 7 people in the PO at the time. He did a happy dance and said it had been a long 25 years making that payment every month...they were going out to dinner to celebrate! It's amazing how many milestones I witness in other people's lives and how they celebrate or mourn the milestones in mine too. I am filled with gratitude every day for the opportunity to be a part of such a close knit community. Blessings abound! This community, be it a virtual one, does the same thing, offering love and support, sympathy, empathy and comfort with all of life's up and downs. I'm grateful for that also! You guys have a fast-tastic day while I break mine!

Good Morning FS Warriors, I hope the fight is going well this morning! Today is my first fasting day this week and I had to go for bloodwork at 7:45 this morning, saw the most gorgeous sunrise as I drove the 25 miles to reach my Dr's office. I worked extra hard on my food intake yesterday and I added a Whey protein powder concentrate to my morning because when I was planning my meals for the day, they came out to a kind of sad 50g, so I also tossed in some sardines. So at the end of the day we had grilled salmon for dinner and it was a hefty 8 ounces and it took up so much of my plate, it bothered me that FS was showing it as only 11.03 grams of protein, which was the reason I added more protein to my earlier meals. I decided to check further and low and behold, 8 ounces of Salmon has 46g of protein....not 11.03. Salmon is something I recently added to my diet that I had never really tried in the past. I encourage all FS users to double check foods that you enter if you are using it for meal planning, because not all of the information is correct. Anyways, I got a good dose of protein yesterday 😂😂 I did a balancing act trying to get my fats and proteins to add up to 1800 calories on my eating days. I refrain from eating 12 days out of the month, I eat 16 days out of the month. If I hit 1800 calories at least on my eating days it will give me an average of 960 kcal per day for the month, which is better than this months 848 average. It seems like a lot of food to me, when I started back in June I was aiming for 2,200 for my eating days, I rarely reached that mark and when I did, I was eating past comfortably full. So bear with me while I waffle back and forth and try a protein supplement to assist with getting enough protein in. I am aiming for around 115-120 on my eating days, which is a few grams above what is suggested for a 58 year old female who stands 5'4" with an ideal weight of 140 lbs (112g), but with fasting I think a few grams over that amount won't be an issue. I may also try a few different apps for nutrition tracking, not that I don't love FS, but it could be improved. You guys have a great day! I am going to empty my head of all this food business for the next three days and enjoy my lovely fasting break from food, cooking, meal planning, dishes and checking the freezer! 😁

Good Chilly Morning FB Warriors! It was 46 here this morning up two degrees from yesterday so we are heading into a warming trend 😁 High today Sunny and 70, absolutely perfect! Today ended my 84 hour fast, I did not drop as much as I usually do. I believe that is because of my knee I re-injured on Sunday while mopping the floor. It killed out my bike rides and my walks, I did do my weights (upper) and my yoga stretches, less the left leg stuff, but other than that a lot of sitting with ice, ibuprofen until time for work.....standing for long periods does not bother it as long as I don't lock it while it's supporting my weight, when I do that it does not want to bend without a lot of cussing! 🤬 It's getting better, I just need to make sure I wear non slip shoes at my next mopping, flip flops are not safe footwear for wet floors! So that is my week in a nutshell, no other drama occuring in my life at the moment. I hope the same for you guys....unless drama is something you enjoy! Have a great day!
