Diabetic type 2
Retired Radiographer/ER at 55 due to heart attack. I am 60 presently and started trying to get serious about a weight loss. Tipping the scale @172 and an "11" A1C, it was obvious that I wasn't even trying. This is my journey now. Reach a daily calorie goal/clean eating 5 ingredients or less with high protein and nutritional value. Monday-friday fasting till noon daily. When I get to a healthier weight I'll slowly add in healthier carbs with an eye on my weight..oh yeah, I hope I get determined to workout again, hasn't been the case yet.

August 9, 2021: I feel great and even though I rarely feel completely full I never go hungry and its still been hard to break up with the dependent side of eating, I'm determined to reach my goal and stay there though. My energy is up because of the weight loss I've shed off of my body, but I'm still not motivated to work out. Still, I have so much more energy for everyday chores now and work hard on the yards landscaping. It still would be nice to spend time just working out and I'm hoping with more weight loss down the line I will get that mojo to exercise in a focused way. I'll have to do something to keep and maintain a good/low BMI and correct weight.

update 2021: A1C came in at 6.9! Cholesterol is 99!!!! Are you kidding me?! Eat quality of calories that works for your body and soul!

mind over matter question
Okay, good options, I see. I'm getting braver about it. I don't eat any meat, not so much because of animal rights, but because of the mental thoughts of bone, tendons, blood vessels. Just can't. There is really no reason to kill them. We are at the top of the food chain and much more educated in these matters. Plant more vegetables and stop raising animals to eat. I could go on, environmentally, but I'll spare you.
I do however have another question. The ever-ending search for major amounts of protein a day....is eating, drinking pre-packaged mega amounts of protein stuffed into small quantities work. ie 20g drink, 15g bar, with a 5g brownie for lunch? I see this being done all the time. Can you absorb that much at once?

mind over matter question
I would like to buy tofu but know very little about it. What the heck is it and why does it look so disgusting in my mind? I can hardly eat any meat, especially chicken, fish, seafood, wild game or beef if I think about it too much. I actually can taste bone sometimes.
Could someone relate or give me information, advice and ways to cook tofu?
Thanks, Cyn
