So, I've been doing a modified "Atkins/South Beach" for about a week now and its amazing seeing the weight come off as my blood sugar levels readjust and get rid of that fat. I've also been reading a bunch on the "Paleo" way of eating (not really a diet, but whatev) and after checking out about 400 reviews and articles on the top Paelo books on Amazon, I plunked down and picked up the "Primal Blueprint" from Mark Sisson.
The quick 101 on Paleo eating is that its basically a relaxed form of Atkins and South Beach, which because of the lo-carb I have been doing, I've already knocked off 6lbs. I chose his book as it takes a very forgiving approach to the high protein, good fats, tons of veggies formula and isn't as restrictive or locked into a strict dogma such as Atkins.
Went shopping last night at the grocery store to really, really begin the Paleo diet and absolutely LOVED what I was putting into my cart.
So, we'll see where we are a month from now if last night was Official Day 1 of this new way of eating.
And a Big Cheers and Merry Xmas!!

So, did an intermittent fasting yesterday + gym time. Got home around 8:30 last night and I was at 227.0 lbs. Had only protein, very, very little carbs and lots of water ...
Woke up this morning, hopped on the scale and I was at 224.6! Guessing this was from a good flush of water weight from yesterday, but seeing ANYTHING below 225 is very, very motivating!
Eating light today and will intermittent fast again on Thurs/Fri just in time to (probably) blow my diet during Xmas. :D

The good news - my BF% is going down, I'm lifting more than I ever have before and the gym is a MUST everyday. I feel stronger, I run farther, I can't wait to get to the gym!
The bad news - my weight is the exact same as when I started going to the gym all the time a month ago. The only bright spot was last Weds I hopped on the scale and it was at 225! Then Xmas parties, old friends and probably eating when I shouldn't have put me back up in weight. Today is officially my 1 month weigh in from a goal I set; here I am at 230lbs, again ... I would like to think my caloric intake of 2500 a day is always met, and that I'm under that more often than not. Doesn't seem to be working!
I've also been REALLY bad at checking in here with my food and weight. I have kept my own old school paper diary for weight and BF% from my Tanita scale. I was super excited last week when I saw the 225, but now its (ugghh) such an ass kicker to see myself hanging at 230 again.
Don't know if I'm packing on the muscle with the protein, or if I'm overall starving my metabolism or what.
Time to crank it up and get a lot better at tracking my diet. The only way I could work out more than I do is if I did two-a-days; so, it HAS to be what I'm eating (or not eating)!

Working out like a madman right now. Cardio has changed to a "easy" interval rotation. I'm doing:
5 minutes - 3.8mph brisk walk warmup
20 minute rotation of:
1 min - 3.8mph
1 min - 4.8mph
1 min - 5.8mph
1 min - 6.8mph
Rinse and Repeat
5 minutes - 3.8mph cool down walk
Doing this every other day on my break day from weights. Seems to be working in conjunction with my NO CARBS AFTER 6PM rule and keeping the days calories under 2500.
