Rodsgurl aka Shelly asked me to update my journal so it doesn't look like she's still having computer problems... although she's an active member and you've probably already welcomed her back!

Hey All- Shelly aka rodsgurl wants everyone to know she is having computer problems. So don't think she's forgotten you! I'm sure she'll get it all worked out soon.

I'm so frustrated with my family right now. My husband, kids, and I will be camping with my parents and my brother, his wife, and 2 kids this weekend. Everyone knows that I am on Atkins, and although they all want me to lose weight, only my husband seems truly supportive. My mom comes to me and holds out a bunch of gram crackers and asks if I think she should get new ones for the s'mores. I tell her "I think they are fine, and by the way, that's going to be really hard on me... everyone sitting around eating s'mores." She tells me that it's tradition and I can't expect people not to eat s'mores. My sister-in-law makes the most amazing cakes and she always bakes one and brings it for camp trips. I told my mother I would rather she didn't do that this year. My mother of course told me that "it's tradition."
My mother is a recovering alcoholic of 10 years, so I thought I would put it in perspective for her. I am not addicted to alcohol or drugs, but I am addicted to carbs. This is what I need to be doing to be a healthy person and I need support. When she was freshly sober I never would have had alcohol around her. Her reply? "I don't want you to think we aren't supportive, because we are. But you can't ask people not to eat traditional camp food. You can just go in your camper while we are around the fire eating s'mores."
Does this sound supportive to you?? She says that they can eat their macaroni salad and such in the camper, but none of that bothers me. They can eat all the hot dog rolls they want. I'm just asking for no cake and no s'mores.
Makes me want to call off the whole thing. Am I crazy?
