This was an interesting week. After tweaking my back last Friday I took it easy this week. I still walked two miles for 30 minutes every weekday. I only did one chest/shoulder workout this week. At the start of the week I set my calories to 2100 since I was not working out. I actually had a hard time eating that much many of the days. The hunger just isn’t there if I’m not working out. I ended up losing a pound which was expected even though my goal right now is to gain mass slowly.

My back is feeling good again. No pain for two days now. It’s just extremely tight feeling. I will continue to stretch it. Next week I’m back to working out and plan to eat a over maintenance calories for the first time. I mini-bulk I suppose. According to IIFYM my TDEE is 2440 with exercise 5 times a week. According to Fat Secret my calculated TDEE for April was 2842. I will average these two and round up at tad to come up with 2650 calories for next week. I’ll try this for two weeks and see where I end up.

Blood sugar was a little higher than I would have liked right when I woke up. I took it again once I got to work and it was down to 99. Overall it’s higher than I would like to see but my average blood sugar for all my tests this week is 106. This includes a lot of post meal readings. I feel like this is acceptable for now but I hope to see some lower morning time readings as I continue to get healthier.

Well, I’m going back down to 2100 calories for this week. I found out on Friday that my deadlift form was not as good as I had hoped. I tweaked my back putting 255lbs back down on the floor. I forgot to get my butt down as I got the weight to my knees and used my back too much. Ouch! It’s getting better every day but still not where it needs to be for me to continue working out. I need to take the week off from lifting, which I am bummed about. I am still doing my walks which seem to loosen things up a bit but it does not burn the calories like the weights do.

Physically I’ll be fine, it’s just a strain, but mentally I am having a hard time since now I have to deviate from my plan and my goals a little bit.

If there is a bright side to this, it is the fact that I can still work on pull up’s without any pain. I beat my record yesterday and managed 6 in a row. I could only do 3 just two weeks ago.

12% Body Fat, Caliper readings 11, 20, 7 mm. *Last week I recorded 9%. This week I played around with the calipers and figured out ways to take my measurements which calculate my body fat closer to how I think I actually look.

I am trying to figure out what it take for me to gain a little muscle mass. I upped my daily calories to 2400 and I still lost weight. I am going to go one more week at 2400 and see how I end up. I must confess that ate over my 2400 calories several days last week . Yesterday after fishing I even had wataburger and ended the day with 3576 calories. I still haven’t gained weight from any of this…yet. Maybe something will show up tomorrow...

No weight training highlights this week. I took it easy and did a deload and only lifted light weights during my routines. Next week should be a good one.

I have a busy weekend coming up. I was off work yesterday and today. Yesterday I had a fun bass fishing trip with some friends. Tomorrow my GF and I have a tournament. I love keepin busy when I can but it keeps me from checking in with my FS friends. Hope you all have a good weekend!
