One thing that I've found interesting while being on this low carb/keto diet is that there are a lot of foods that I only sort of like, but could really do without. And, surprisingly, a lot of them are carbs. Let me clarify that, savory carbs. B/c I love some cookies and cake. But things such as potatoes, rice, beans, bread, etc. I really can go without them. They are things that might taste a little good to me but I don't feel that I really have to have them.
They are more like things that I mindlessly eat. So if I were to get a meal at Red Robin, for example, I might get the burger and fries, but do I really want the fries? Not really. I just eat them b/c they are part of the meal. I stopped eating popcorn at the movies and I don't miss that either. Is that popcorn really all that good? I also don't miss the bread on hamburgers. But that meat, delicious!
I guess I am trying to re-evaluate my relationship with food and trying to see it more as fuel than as something to look forward to in the day. Don't get me wrong, I still want my food to be flavorful. But do I really need potato salad, cereal, fries, and chips? No.
Now sweets, I am always battling that. I am saving them for special occasions (ex: birthdays) and only eating them when they are really good. Why eat a cookie if it doesn't even taste that good? Is that stack of regular oreos worth me gaining pounds? When instead I could be having some kind of specialty cookie? Which I don't come across that often, thank goodness.
Anyway, just felt the need to put these thoughts out there. I just find it's helpful to evaluate how I really feel about food and how much I might want it vs. need it.

I swear my metabolism is broken...last time I did keto the weight was just flying off without me even exercising. Now I am exercising and it's just going SOO slowly. I know, slow and steady wins the race, but I guess I'm just disappointed that I am not seeing the same results that I saw just a few months ago. Part of me thinks that it may be related to this Depo Provera shot that I just got, but I don't know.
I haven't been tracking inches, but I don't think my clothes feel all that different. Plus, the weight loss challenge that I am in tracks pounds and not inches. I need to lose this weight!
