DIET
Emotional eating and poor behavior are real things. But the most basic thing to watch is, am I actually hungry right now; is this a good thing to eat to meet that need if I am; and how do I feel after eating it? Mindful eating takes the process out of the mindlessness of emotions and poor habits(haha, "DIET," I love it), and into the realm of simply meeting physical need (where it belongs). Much of what I thought was emotional eating (or worse, poor morals) turned out to be hormonally(insulin)-based cravings, mostly due to eating carbs high on the glycemic index. When I eliminate the foods that cause that, so-called emotional eating goes away. That's what I'm learning works for me, anyway!

How Often Do you weigh yourself?
so true, patbear26! Scales can be unreliable, and I can get so upset by even a few ounces. Silly. How my clothes fit, and how I feel overall, is by far the best indicator of success. Great reminder!

How Often Do you weigh yourself?
My plan was to weigh as often as I liked (I'm pretty obsessed about the whole thing, actually), but to record only on Sunday mornings. It worked great ... as long as I was *losing.* Once I started gaining, I'd put off recording my weight until I got "back on track" again. I guess that's ok, too ... except that it feeds my denial, especially if the weight gain is gradual. Then, when I start losing again, I don't have a record of my high weight, because I was too embarrassed to record it (and, once I'm losing again, I'm not embarrassed anymore, in fact I want bragging rights!!) No pleasing me at all, huh?!?
I think regular weigh-ins (weekly, maybe, even monthly) are important, at least for me, as a form of reality check. So is the fit of my clothes, and my general sense of well-being. The better the balance of all three, the happier I tend to be, regardless of the actual "number."
