I'm looking for some pointers about alcohol.

Let's start with the fact that I know alcohol is empty calories. I know to plan ahead. I know to exercise to give me additional points to spend. However, then I have to add the fact that I have an OBNOXIOUSLY high alcohol tolerance. It takes three Long Islands (at least) for me to catch a buzz. So, I don't drink often and when I do, it's normally not for the pharmacalogical response.

However, I have an old friend who's primary thing in life is the drinking club I helped him shape. I expect that sometime in the next couple of months, we'll be getting together. And as the drinking will be on his dime, I'd like to be able to get a bit smashed.

So, is there any way that I can plan ahead for a night of pretty extreme indulgence without going way off plan? How many points are in three Long Islands anyways? Can I just plan, in advance, to be careful during the day, do "whatever" for alcohol, and then get back on plan and realize that at least I've been following the plan the rest of the time or is this totally shooting myself in the foot? What alcohol packs the most punch for the points (tequila shots, Long Islands, something else -- I know mixers are a hinderance in this regard)? Any ideas are welcome. I've got lots of time to plan my strategy, but I figure starting early won't hurt.

So, I'm starting again now. Starting today, I'm going to do my best to follow the WW plan while also doing my best to eat a more balanced diet (I'm horrible for getting enough fruits and vegetables, and while I love dairy it tends to get skipped when I'm watching points).

Working to get enough servings of each food group, while not getting too many points, with the food available to me on a VERY limited budget, and still keep food from being a complete drag will be an interesting challenge.

Since they've added the WWpoints to the food entries here, I'll be tracking my eating here and you will all be able to see how well I'm doing. I will happily accept any pointers, but please keep in mind the four limitations listed above. :)

As Busch Gardens has just opened for the season and I'm getting over my winter blahs, I'm revising my previous goal. My new goal is: Be able to fit into the seats of the Griffon (roller coaster) before Hallow-Scream begins (October). Of course, if I (for whatever reason) don't make it, I'll still have made progress toward a healthier me. :) But I really want to ride that stinkin' roller coaster this year!

Okay, so the dog grooming was actually yesterday, but my arms are still sore. I have two Samoyed dogs. (Samoyeds are a double coated breed that sheds the undercoat twice a year, and need at least weekly brushing to keep their coat in good condition.) One of my dogs is a female, Angel, who carries a light coat. She is easy to keep up with and almost never mats. The other is a male, Tristan, who's been neutered. He always carried a heavier coat than Angel, and neutering makes the coat much more difficult to manage. So, since it had been a while since I brushed either of them, I decided yesterday was the day to get caught up.

It was a beautiful day out, so I set up the grooming table outside and alternated between standing next to the table and sitting on the porch steps while brushing the dogs. Angel was done in about 10 minutes, but I literally spent five hours straight brushing Tristan (with no real breaks at all) and only got him half done (I said it had been a while, didn't I?). I'm calling in the big guns (my mother, a Samoyed breeder) to finish the process, because otherwise it won't get done in a reasonable time frame.

I've got to get in the habit of doing this more frequently, both for the dogs' sakes as well as to help strengthen my arms.
