I've been cheating this weekend. I've worked long hours and did a lot of driving. I've eaten fastfood and drank latte's. I am still working toward my 140 goal. I hit 140 on October 10. I'm almost back there now. This is a long jump, 30 days, but I've seen this type of jump before so I'm not worried.

There is no failure in bouncing while dieting - as long as I don't quit. There is no failure until the day you quit.

My current goal is to maintain, or lose more, so I can enjoy Christmas.

Awareness

I am learning that it is easier to maintain my weight when I cheat. The longer I am at a weight, I may not lose weight fast, but I do not gain it fast either.

I have only lost 10lb (give or take) in 2012, but I've dropped from a size 16 womens to a size 12, which are now loose. Last night I went clothes shopping and tried on a pair of size 12 junior.

I am also noticing that my waist is smaller. There is no hang - and there is no density. I also noticed that the weight on the back of my thighs is not as dense or solid. It isn't smooth and that bothers me, but I know that it is temporary. I just imagine what my thighs will look like when my body finishes disposing of the extra fat.

Water retention can be so difficult to accept when you are dieting. I gained 7lb this month. I cut back on the salt, and within 5 days I'd lost 6 of those lb. It is hard to know where extra lb are coming from.

I didn't expect to remain at 140 on my first try. Then I gained over 10lb and was frantic. I held those 10lb for a week before they started to drain off.

I did cheat on the weekend. I has sushi and sushami with my daughter - but that shouldn't have caused such a major weight gain. It is hard to know or understand. The books never mention stalls, water retention, or unexplained weight gains.

The most important thing to remember is that stress can cause weight gain. It is important to understand and accept your weight gain so that your body (immune system) doesn't start working against you.
