I forgot to weigh myself this morning because my daughter called before I'd actually gotten out of bed for the day. She was checking in on me to see how we'd fared overnight with Helene. I was surprised that in spite of 4000 power outages in our area, we weren't one of them. The storm ended up tracking East. I did weigh myself after I'd had coffee & was the same as yesterday, before eating/ drinking.
They were recommending people stay off the roads so once again we didn't go to the Gym. There were trees down & we weren't sure where. Hubby did go out late afternoon to pick up some things we needed for our trip.
I put everything in my suitcase. I thought for a minute I wasn't going to be able to zip it. The weather is supposed to be in the 60's....50's overnight, so that means layering. I realized I hadn't unzipped the "expander" on one side, so after I did that, I was easily able to zip it. I was even able to pop my hairdryer & jewelry pouch in 😊 I did determine I needed a separate bag for shoes, but the one I chose also has room for my toiletries & flatiron. Good thing we're not flying because I do have a couple of jackets I'm hanging in the back.
We're pretty much ready to go. I am going to pack snacks for our drive. No temptation to buy gas station snacks along the way. We're taking Lucy to the kennel tomorrow evening. Then we'll try to get away by 5 AM Sunday. We are hoping the flooding & issues don't create problems as we drive north. We drive through Tennessee & saw Hwy. 40 collapsed. Of course, the GPS will reroute us, but that may make it a longer drive.
My sister & her family....daughter, her husband & girls & driving back from St. Augustine, Fl. tomorrow. They've been there for the week. The storm didn't adversely affect them, but I hope the drive home is OK. Her other daughter & boyfriend drove home today & encountered damage in South Georgia.
I feel a little guilty being excited our trip hasn't been delayed. There are so many dealing with the damage from Helene. But, we've postponed this trip multiple times already & I'm so looking forward to seeing our Canadian family.
Need to go make dinner....

Rain, rain & more rain! We need it, but it's no fun taking Lucy out in it. 🐶
I'm moving forward getting ready for our trip. I folded pants, shirts, sweaters, a dress & a jumpsuit to pack in the suitcase. I pressed a few things....hopefully they do OK in transit. I still have to get PJ's, undies, shoes & jewelry.
We always pack Lucy's food in containers for meals & include the probiotic, pumpkin & antacid she takes. I got that ready to go.
When the power went out at 3AM, I said...oh crap, I haven't filled the bath tub with water for flushing toilets yet! Our well pump doesn't work without power. I also skipped a shower last night thinking I'd get one this morning & wash my hair. Thankfully, it was restored in a little over an hour. I filled the tub first thing this morning & got that shower.
I don't know if we'll get to the Gym tomorrow. It's not looking good. The worst of the weather is supposed to hit us tomorrow. The schools are closed & a lot of businesses closed early today. Some are expected to be closed tomorrow & reopen in the afternoon. A few trees have come down in the area, knocking out power.
We've had long stretches of dry weather this summer. When there's heavy rain, it can cause the trees to uproot & fall easily. The power companies are all set & ready for outages, so they've been quick to respond. That's fine til the number of outages outnumber the number of teams.
