I am a 77 year old retired grandmother of three and have decided to begin my diet regimen anew. I don't have much left to lose but that can be challenging not to mention maintaining once I achieve it.

Hi Lee,
My husband and I are with you! We got our WII a couple of weeks ago and are enjoying it and the revelations about the state of our balance also.

Calories
I agree that the goal is lifetime weight maintenance and I also think your genes influence what type of eating is good for you. I like the Atkins way of eating and my body seems too also. Therefore, low carb will succeed for me because I naturally want to eat this way and do not feel deprived nor do I have cravings. Someone else may have a different experience. If you feel deprived, no diet will succeed. Science is moving in the direction of tailoring diets to individuals based on genes and other heredity traits.

Adding ankle weights to walk
Reconsider your decision to use ankle weights, I read that they are not recommended. They cause injury.
