Day 2 - Today went well. I journaled all my food and managed to go for a little walk on my way to lunch. My knee is getting better but not well enough for a big walk or treadmill yet.

I was cruising the Biggest Loser website and came across a great blog by Cheryl Forber, RD. You can read about it at http://www.cherylforberg.com/blog.

It was about losing fat and not muscle and how important good carbs are. She also includes a formula on how to figure out your basal meabolic rate (BMR) and your daily calorie need and then finally what a realistic calorie intake is if you wanted to lose weight.

Fat Secret said I should be eating 1700 calories per day in order to lose about 1 lb per week. Her calucation is 1456.60. I felt comfortable both yesterday and today and have barely reached 1400 so I am going to use that as my tool.

Her article also says that a healthy diet should be 30% of calories from lean protein, 45% from complex carbs and 25% from healthy fats. I love that this site breaks down my %'s from my food diary. I can see that I don't have enough protein and have had too many carbs already. My goal for the rest of the week is to try get my diet to the proper %'s.

I am off to have a herbal tea and NO treats with a friend.
