Now that I’ve been retired for some time and having lived through the Covid nightmare, I realize that my self imposed isolation isn’t really healthy. That is by other peoples’ POV. I do love being alone with my dogs and the fostered cat, named Leo. I heard someone recently use the adjective “cat lady” in a public speech. When I heard the phrase I immediately thought, “that could be me”. I smiled thinking it was a compliment.
I’ll get to my point. I don’t always understand the technical relevance in the use of words, or the etiquette society expects us to understand by osmosis. In 2004 my 4 yo grandson mastered Game Boy while I was still reading the training manual. At 6 he told me I needed a new computer bc the one I had was broken bc it couldn’t handle Fortnight.
Get to the point: I am a gentle kind loving giving and compassionate older gal. I love my life. I’m obese. (Fat). I am also quick to anger with a short fuse. We say that I am high strung. I’m 4’11” and often overlooked. Napoleon Complex.
True confessions of a Cat Lady.

I think I’ll try posting again in addition to just making comments. I realize it takes a lot of courage to put myself out there, rather than acting like Father Time with all the answers. I had a lot more long term success, and fun sharing my experience with our community rather than just recording my food.
When I look back and read my old journals I seem so “stupid” in the things I’ve written. So I’ll ask your forgiveness if my posts hurt anyone’s feelings or if I come across as arrogant or know-it-all. I grew up in a family of 7 children and all the others were brighter, more athletic, stronger, smarter, sweeter, taller than me. I really had to push myself if I was going to get any notice or attention. Even in my elder years I never really feltl I’ve achieved my goals, or measured up to my expectations.
So, Sarah, fasten your seatbelt and let’s give this another try.
FatSecret friends, thanks for being here.

I made beef bouguignon yesterday. I wanted to try making it before my sister comes for her visit from Montreal. If it came out good I’d make it for her as she is a foodie and world traveler. Well , sad to say, after all those fancy ingredients that I do not normally stock in my kitchen, it wasn’t really that good. My regular old ‘one pot’ beef stew that is made with whatever I have on hand is way tastier. $14 bottle of wine is way better to drink. I bought 2 $5 nips for the bourbon, and used a whole garlic instead of the 2 cloves recipes always call for. I had to cook it for an extra hour to break down the beef sufficiently.
I can check this off my bucket list, even though I didn’t make it to France. (Covid ruined my European trip) 🧑🏻🍳
