My birthday, combined with three days sitting at a conference out of town and restaurant/hotel food available 24/7 did NOT end well for me! Ah well - I'm home now. I haven't eaten anything remotely resembling a vegetable in days (chili sauce is not a vegetable), water intake was sporadic, didn't sleep well in the hotel, and the meeting schedule was very full and VERY sedentary. Leaving the house in the menfolk's charge resulted in the anticipated household disaster - cleaning is good exercise - and I don't think the dogs got out much while I was away either. LOTS of opportunity to burn fat around here! While I'm a bit disappointed in the week's results, it's also an excellent reminder to be vigilant. Eh. Back to the grind...have a beautiful week, all!

Oh, how IRRITATING. Went for a general check up at my doc's today, and HIS scale has me 4 lbs over what MY scale says. Now, I don't know how often his is calibrated, and I know he has people hopping on and off it all day...and further, my starting weight was on MY scale, not his, so I'm going to trust that I've lost X number of pounds no matter what the weight number is, but STILL. I'm SO annoyed! Gr. There, I feel better now :-)

Scale is still inching in the right direction - I'll take it :-) Goal for this week is 30 minutes a day walking, having a little trouble getting off my couch. I have a conference out of town next week, so three days of hotel food (unhealthy, and ALWAYS looks better than it tastes). My strategy is to take fruit, chopped up veggies 'n dip, nuts and yogurt, stash them in my room fridge, and never attend an event hungry. Mental note - buy protein bars.

Hi all, recently diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes so that has served as motivation to pay closer attention to my health - sort of a favour, really, I was taking everything for granted :-) APPARENTLY, I'm NOT immortal...huh! Who'da thought it? I'm beyond "pre-diabetes", but not far...my doc seems to think we can drop kick my insulin production with diet and the e-word, so I'll give it a go. I've been on and off WW for years - paid to lose the same 35 pounds at LEAST five times - and I do know how to eat healthy...I'm just kind of a big hedonist. I love to cook (and bake), and I love to eat, and now my challenge is to start creating things that both taste good AND are good for me. I have a very large puppy who will be deliriously happy to accompany me on my walks - if I can get off the couch. We'll see about that. It's a very NICE couch! Anyway, good luck to everyone, keep at it, and remember to be gentle with yourselves :-)
