How much do "normal" people eat?
By "normal" people, I mean people who don't have a weight problem and who have a healthy relationship with food, i.e., food has no meaning to them other than to nourish their bodies and vanquish hunger. I know this is probably the wrong website to be asking that question, but I don't remember ever being that way and I don't think I'll ever know what it feels like to not think about my next meal half of the time. Everybody's relationship with food is different; some people are emotional eaters, or eat compulsively. Me? I just
LOVE
food. Maybe there is something else causing it deep down that I'm not aware of, but as far as I know, that's what it is. I look forward to eating foods that I like and I've always been an over eater. When I try to decide what my portions should be now, I don't know what to compare them to. I know each food has a recommended portion size, but how many portions of each different item qualifies as a regular meal? For example, I picked up a six inch sandwich from Subway for dinner and I decided to forgo the chips. Now, a "normal" person probably would've eaten the chips too, but in my head I think I would rather be under whatever guesstimate I make just to be safe. After I ate it, I decided that didn't seem like enough and I had a cup of sliced strawberries with sugar for dessert. Normally I would eat a foot long sandwich with at least two small bags of chips. It's really hard to discern when you're actually full when full for me has actually been "uncomfortably full" for so long.
