I learned about the South Beach Diet while watching Dr. Oz. I had seen the book in Walmart and it sounded too fancy for me, lol. Little did I know what was behind that title.
I have quite a few health issues and feel like this diet will be the best thing (one of the best things) I could do for my health. Number one being to stop smoking.
But, my life is filled to overflowing with stress, frustration, depression, and a lot of anger at the way i have to live. So, i feel totally overwhelmed and wonder what's the use in even trying. (I have an occluded femoral artery--from my hip to my knee--and the doctor said a large percentage of people with that die within 5 years. No encouragement from him!!)
Any way, trying to take each day as it comes, and i would love to stop having the sweet cravings, especially after what I read in SBD. I'm diabetic, so that kinda slapped me in the face. Ouch!!
I haven't finished the book yet, and haven't been able to buy the right kinds of foods, but am taking baby steps and doing what i can with what i have. Income in fixed so i can only do a little here and a little here. One thing's for sure though, GOTTA GET A TAPE MEASURE!!
