My name is Steve, I am just your average 45 year old who has been a martial artist for a long time let my self go due to life (read as: desk jobs) and a few injuries. Tired of being tired and not feeling good about how I look. Decided that I am ready to stop trying and actually do it this time...
My current adventure in life is here in Boise Id. with a wonderful wife and 4 beautiful children (4yo and under as of next month). I have been, Correctional SWAT team member and a bouncer.
I am currently getting ready to start phase 2 of P90X, I am looking forward to day 90 to see how things turn out. I am currently down an inch on my waist as of the end of phase 1, and an average of 5 pounds in 3 weeks.

Does plateauing always happen?
Dear Stacy,
Plateaus... very frustrating... also inevitable....

As Gnat said, our bodies' hard wired instinct is to keep us alive. My wife struggled with her Plateau for several weeks until she realized that she had lost several inches overall during the plateau. So there is hope.

Also, when we lose weight our bodies need time to adjust to a new normal set point. Going up it resets what it thinks as "normal" very quickly. It, however, it takes longer going down. Hence plateaus.

By losing about 10% of your body weight and then keeping it off for a few months your body will do its reset to the lower weight.

Keep up the good work and remember that weight loss isn't always about the numbers, it also about how your close are fitting..

Question on how to insert exercise...
My wife does Turbo Jam swears by it. I finally got her to try doing 2 20min work outs 2x a day and she is starting to shed the pounds. before with the kids she was so stressed about trying to get in a 40min work out that she was over stressing and defeating any progress... gotta love stress... a good way to get exercise into your day is to start by taking the kids for a walk.. if time is an issue I am going to buy Tony Horton's 10 minute trainer. I have been doing his P90X (but i wouldn't wish that on anyone who wasn't an athlete in a former life). It looks like you are doing great, keep up the good work.
