Today was a lovely day. Did a sneak weigh in and was so surprised I had step on and off a couple of times. 😊
I did manage to learn to make 1/2 squares today. I was very very proud of myself, the points even line up.
All in all today was a wonderful day.
The snow is melting again so maybe spring is around the corner after all.

I am so very humbled this evening, to come in and read all the responses to my journal entry this evening. As tears rolled down my eyes, and my heart overflowing.
All I can say is God Bless each and everyone of you and Thank you!!!!
I wish I could say more; there just isn't anymore words I can say.
Today was abit better we woke upto 4 inches of fresh snow, lots of bedding went out, so everything was warm, dry and comfy.
This afternoon I did the maternity rounds hubby took the inside kitty to be spayed. To my surprise we have a set of twins, both bulls, absolutely adorable. Mama was proud as can be.
Tomorrow is my day to learn a new skill set for a quilt 1/2 squares. I think it will be fun.
Again thank you so much FS friends and family.
P.S. I really do go by Rains 😊

Today was a really tough day. This may be to much for some I apologize a head of time...
We worked for over 2 hours, from 12:30 to 3 almost 4 am to pull a calf. Sadly he didn't make it. Just to large. She just didn't ever look or act like she was having difficulty. Til she was in real trouble, she worked so hard to have her baby, and for nothing. My heart still is breaking for her.
Then to try to share this with one of my family members just to express my sorrow. All they wanted to ask me is where was the vet??? Well when you live as remote as we are, that isn't always an option!!! So many allow their cows to calf in a pastures miles away from a human. Last night we had a snow storm even if we could have gotten her loaded it would have been a 2 hour drive to an all night Vet, on a good traveling night.
The effort she put forth all the while trusting us during the pain we were causing her. I know there will be losses, and yet one is too many in our minds. Out of 228 we have lost 3 this year. To us that is 3 to many. I love what we do,
In my mind a calf's life is so short anyway, they deserve the best childhood we can possibly give them.
Our cows deserve the best we can give them. Some local ranchers think I am a bit off my rocker, I speak daily to each one of our livestock. I find solace sitting on a hay bale just watching, them going about doing their own thing with their babies. Watching babies being babies, kids just like kids anywhere.
So today was a day, that I spent going about doing chores, trying to quilt a bit..and spending time in prayer.
Doing what a rancher does... putting one foot in front of another.
Again I apologize if " my" journal entry offends anyone but I needed to put it somewhere.

No weigh in for me today, had a wonderful day downstairs in my craft room. Got a good start on my Eldest son's quilt, while the power lasted.
It is really chilly here, tried to snow abit. Lots and lots of bedding used today. Everything is snug and warm.
Hubby even took the 2 am rounds for me so a whole 5 hours of unbroken sleep was absolute bliss.
All in all a wonderful lazy Sunday.
