Practicing Buddhist residing in a small residential Zen temple in New England. I have been living with a cellular-modulated (t-cell) immune disorder for over 30 years (diagnosed in 1988). I am also a cancer survivor.
While I am not strictly vegan or vegetarian, I generally eat what I am offered. Certain foods are definitely on the veto list or are things that I eat very rarely (beef, pork, chicken and most non-fish seafood) and I almost never eat foods with long ingredient lists. I try to eat organic and local whole foods and cook almost everything from scratch. There are some meat substitutes that I will eat 3-4 times per week. Probably 70% of my diet consists of organic grains and legumes and as many fruits and dark green leafy vegetables as I can afford (food has gotten super expensive in the last 3-4 months). I also try to eat foods that are in season.
I am not using FatSecret to lose weight. I am using it to track certain nutrients and I use the reports feature to provide dietary information to my medical team.
