Well, I've been slacking a bit on the rules of the diet. I started a new job and everywhere you look they have cupcakes and cookies. My weakness. They've also been catering in food for us every other day, and of course the choices are sandwiches and brownies, and so on and so forth.

It's helped me discover something about my eating habits. I impulse eat, and when I want something to eat, I want it now. If I have good choices, I'll take one of them. If I had bad choices, well I won't tell myself no.

As I've said before, I'm truly glad I found the South Beach diet though, because it's so easy to slip, but you don't have to feel guilty, just pick up where you left off. So, that's what I've been doing.

If I have a brownie, well that's ok because everything else that I'm eating falls within the diet, and in phase 3 the brownie isn't such an awful thing. With that attitude, I've kept myself from going on a binge because it's not like I messed it all up, now may as well eat the whole pan of brownies. It's like, ok i've eaten a brownie and that's ok, and I feel satisfied.

The only bad part is that I've not lost any weight, just maintained what I've gotten my weight down too. Still thrilled about not having the crazy love handles on my back anymore, however still not so thrilled at the sight of the cellulite on my thighs. At least I haven't gained though, and that is great!!!

Well, I'm going to the grocery store today, and I have some money to spend for once, and that fills me with hope that on the next weigh in I'll have dropped a few more pounds. At this point I think I would be happy with being someone in the 130's. 139 sounds so awesome to me, maybe I won't need to hit the 122 mark. Guess part of being successful on a diet is also being realistic.

That's all I've got for now. Until me and the scale meet again...

Well, I've been following Phase 1 as closely as possible, but I have had a few mishaps. Got tempted by some cookies at work, and having one turned into hurrying up and eating as many as I could before my willpower came back. However, I did not beat myself up, and I moved forward. This has really helped me alot when I slip, knowing that slipping up just means that I've stepped into phase 2, and can easily go back to phase one.
I noticed a few days ago that my "back handles" have all but dissappeared, and it makes me realize how in denial I really was about my weight. I was just telling myself they were a product of my age. Man, how we can dillute ourselves.
I did splurge a bit on Christmas, I had a couple slices of pizza on the 24th (my bday) and I had some mashed potatoes and gravy on the 25th. However, that was absolutely it. I savored the hell out of them, and found that I didn't need more.
One of the side effects I've noticed of me being on this diet, is my husband is starting to slim down too. He is constantly shocked at the meals we have nightly and can't believe they are "diet food".
Well, I'm hoping that my next trip to the scale this Monday is going to produce further weightloss results, as I've been battling away at resisting urges and temptations. I just wonder how the little excesses I allowed myself this week will weigh in at the scales.
