Vegetarians?
Hello
Depends what you mean by low carb.I definitely try to eat less carbs and completely cut added sugars, unless I am having a treat.
I am finding it hard to cut carbs because I am a vegetarian - the most direct carbs is limited to one serving only per day: I will have probably one or two slices of bread, one cup of brown rice, a pizza base - at its worst it is probably 400 calories with the homemade pizza being the worst with a serving of hard cheese.
I find it more important to lower my sugar intake and increase the % of healthy fats I am eating.

Hello everyone
Weight has a huge impact on how we feel about ourselves
I think the key to success is to have a healthy attitude towards a sustainable lifestyle diet. Weight loss should be a benefit to healthy eating and taking care of your body.
I don't exercise at all - allergic to it!
I try my best to eat healthy and if I fall off the wagon for a day or three it is ok. I don't feel guilty - and you shouldn't either because it is a conscious choice. I enjoy the occassional chocolate, ice-cream or glass of Coke. The world is not going to end as long as it is it in moderation. (I just make sure it is good chocolate and damn good ice-cream because those calories count and I am not going to blow them on crappy snacks!)
Good luck with your journey and remember to be kind to yourself.

Why does everyone think eating loads of protein is good for you?
I generally eat what I like, as long as I actively limit added sugar, but what surprised me was how little protein someone my size / weight / actually needs - which is good because I am vegetarian. 50 grams per day and I do that mainly on dairy and egg. I try to balance things out because I view this as a long term health issue rather than just weight loss. It needs to be something I can sustain too.

HELLO
Hi Jean
Good luck on your weight loss journey.
I am in this recently too and have always battled with my weight. Not dieting but being unhappy with my size... I am in my 40s and see this as a step in improving my own health: to eat better and concentrate on what is healthy for me. Weight loss will be a by-product or side effect to a healthier lifestyle. Think of it as an investment in yourself.
(What type of help are you looking for?)
